Has anyone managed to get an internet connection over bluetooth on Mac OSX with the K700? I'm on Orange, and can access email using the phone ok. So the orangeinternet profile is correct. But trying to establish an internet connection over bluetooth just doesn't work, it says no carrier detected.
It works fine with a T610, so do we have to wait for an update or is there a work around? Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers!
Andy

welcome to Esato
IÄm not a mac person but there might be something useful in the following thread
Using the Sony Ericsson K700 with an Apple Mac Posted by blurtigo
Thanks for the pointer. I'd already checked that thread but it's mainly to do with getting iSync to work with the phone, which is for copying your contact list to & from the Mac.
I haven't seen anyone mention a wireless internet connection on here yet.

I need help with this too, on a Powerbook running OS X. I tried going through this for about three hours with a helpful T-Mobile tech support guy, but we weren't successful. The Internet is working fine on the phone, and the Bluetooth connection is working between the phone and the Powerbook. But no Internet connection for the Powerbook through the phone. May be a settings problem or a modem script, I don't know. . . .

After spending more fruitless hours trying to get it to work and chatting to Vodafone Data support who whilst helpful were unable to help, I am back to using my T610 for access to the net!!
I can only think that there is a setting that allows pass through of data that is not on the T610?
When I connect the globe comes up showing that there is a GPRS connection in place but the data is not being passed, does anyone else get this?
Cheers

Frustrated!

Yes, I also have a GPRS connection through my K700i, and I can access the SE site through the browser on the phone. I am also getting e-mail through T-Zones.
I have a working Bluetooth connection between the phone and the Powerbook -- I can browse files on the phone, send files, use iSync, etc.
But I can't connect to the Internet using my phone as a modem for my Powerbook. That doesn't work.

I called Sony Ericsson customer support today (1-866-766-9374) and I was told that since they don't support the Mac, I will have to find the correct modem script on my own.
Can anyone help with this problem?

I was having the same problems but I got connected by using the scripts from http://www.taniwha.org.uk on my iBook via Bluetooth. I'm using my phone on Orange in the UK.
I followed the readme file instructions exactly, and worked my way through the script files in turn. No luck until I got to the Sony Ericsson GPRS CID4 script and then success!
The thread above is helpful regarding iSync.

Thanks for the info! I'll give that a try tmrw.
Found news of an iSync update that is on the horizon:
"Apple is readying iSync 1.5, an update to the company's synchronizing software, sources told Think Secret. iSync 1.5 will reportedly add support for additional mobile devices; sources said the new version will synch information with newer phones from Motorola and Sony Ericsson."
I think it's quite likely that the K700 will be one of the new phones that is supported, so getting iSync to work should be much simpler soon

Try setting the script in OS X to "Ericsson T39 19.2" - that works for GPRS on both O2 and Orange in the UK

This excellent post: http://homepage.mac.com/beowulf/beoblog/C1345736521/E57725035/ that details how to get a p800 work as a bluetooth modem for OSX 10.2+ on T-Mobile in the states worked for me with my k700i as well.
Give it a shot.

Success at last using Orange GPRS, K700i and OS 10.3.
Use modem scripts from http://www.taniwha.org.uk and place Sony Ericsson GPRS CID1-5 scripts in /Library/Modem Scripts directory.
In System Preferences / Network / Bluetooth / make sure 'Using PPP' is selected in the TCP/IP tab. On the PPP tab enter 'orangeinternet' in the Telephone Number field. Click on the PPP Options... button and uncheck 'Send PPP echo packets'. On the Bluetooth Modem tab uncheck 'Enable error correction' and 'Wait for dial tone'. Finally select the Sony Ericsson GPRS CIDx modem script where x is the number of the Orange GPRS Internet data account in Data Accounts list. (see connectivity/data comm./data accounts). My Orange GPRS Internet data account is listed third so I use Sony Ericsson GPRS CID3.
Thanks to someone in Orange third level support for that.
Hope it works for you.
