Oh god. I smell another Noia bashing thread...

Personaly I like the 7280. Not that I would buy it...Just saying my opinion

Posted by bart
they are ugly, i just began laughing when i saw them.

but years of telecom experience tell me to be carrefull.
these 3phones look alot like the 7610.
people could think that that sort of design is IN. it could become a hype.
but again everything depends on what the publics first opinion is, and also on nokia, what campagne will they use.

remember most people still think that nokia is the big thing and most people have no idea what phones can do, so they chose with there eyes set on nokia and design. seeing 4 phones with the same design most mean something...

Posted by methylated_spirit
Once again, style over substance. Pah.

Posted by ewap8
not bad...

Posted by axxxr
Apparantly Nokia designed these on the Spirit of the 1920's theme.

Posted by d_a_r_k_n_e_z_z
i like all the designs myself. at least nokia makes phones like these to show off the designing phones like that are possible. SE only can do with making a phone look like a digicam which i personally think is lame and they don't have any imagination at all.

but to the SE cult members they will normally say that they are all ugly. sheesh...

Posted by Ayush
What about the memory? And form factor?

Posted by MTNT68i
Its really too much.... they dont care any longer.... just make a sculpture and fit a phone in it... hmmmm....

damn why am i always drunk...... where is Kimchiboi....... Talk to me dude....

Posted by T-mobile
Guys, we have to understand that Nokia is totally different from SE in the concept of phones. SE are more serious, professional and more high tech phones, on the other end Nokia makes more fashion phones mostly for the youngest population. In that respect I like these Nokia's a lot. Would I buy them? Propably not because I am real SE hardcore fun, but because of that I won't say that these Nokia's phones are shit. Apparantly they look decent and WAY better than the older Nokias like 3650 etc etc. These phones have a nice style.

Posted by methylated_spirit
They look different, and they aren't bad, but i wouldnt say they were good looking, just a little different.

Posted by jack00
i have to say it, well done nokia
the design is different, but in a good way
the keypads aren't silly aranged and those designs have a good use of lines colors and materials
i would really like to see such stuff from sony ericsson

Posted by ares
Forgeting the subjectiveness about liking or disliking the design, there´s somethin really dumb about these phones: series 40 screens remain 128x128...

Posted by DeLa
They have a converter for shoe and clothing sizes. That may be more of an issue for the potential buyers than the amount of memory.

They look appealing from the first glance, the shining metal case looks good, the colors are new, the pencil-like (Haier!) is something completely different. The clamshell has a nice form, it is one of the best looking I have seen.

The problem with Nokia design is that as instant as they appeal, as quickly they start to bore you. But it would be a matter of taste. Maybe these phones express 'I want a fashion phone' a little too much for the style-conscious public, that is either going back to old mobiles or might a very discreet phone.

By the way you can still buy a new Nokia 3310 for €79. Just to say that there are different segments in the market. It is the customer that will decide. I'm curious what the decision will be.

Unique design sets you apart from the crowd? awaken your passions? unfold your dreams? The look you want to have?

I hate this sort of marketing, they are average phones in a slightly funky case, they wont unfold your dreams, and everyone will have them so they wont set you apart. Nokia releasing 30 phones in october? Thats not a new range, thats market saturation, trying to swamp the customer in Nokia! All the phones will be practically the same spec. Bullshit.

30 models??? That´s a big load of blokias You can almost build a wall with them

nice phones you see why cant se just try and design something nice they all ways have such boring and predictable designs they should lighten up a bit

Posted by methylated_spirit
Maybe thats a fair point, but when i buy a phone, i want a good product first off, looks are secondary. These new Nokias are just average, ordinary phones. They have spent most of their design budget on the looks and marketing, the spec isnt exactly what you would expect from a completely new mobile, is it? Thats why nokia get slated a lot here, because we know good phones, and frankly, (most) nokias just aint that good.

Posted by p800_london
i quite like them kind of stylish

Posted by lordmat
they look ok but again nokia dont make any good phones they make low budget ones or the same one in a diffent case with little improvement my example what can nokia can beat the p900 or p910 or s700 and are they still making there 128x128 screens

i hope this dont thead get block beacuse we all argue

@lardmat - whenever anyone posts anything about Nokia, arguments/flame wars always ensue!

I rather like the look of that 7270 flip phone myself!

30 models in 1 month? saturate the market is bullshit? having hate inside you is bullshit!!
having more phone models is no different than having a lot of car models to choose from a single car maker like GM which has a lot of car brands under it or toyota like scion or lexus for example.

Posted by lordmat
Sammy_boy my name is lordmat not lardmat

well nokia they just make loads of phones all with a little upgrade

that 6260 i thought that was a proto type for the noika 7610 does look like the pitures

Posted by david1975
That is why nokia will always be no 1 thex are clever when it comes to the market place if only se would do the same siemens is trying it a fear in the next six months there will be an anocement that se have split which wont be a bad thing ericsson used to be cool

Posted by methylated_spirit
darknezz, the difference is, the cars are DIFFERENT. you got hatchbacks, saloons, SUV's, people carriers, vans, sports cars etc. And, dont forget that they are still made by toyota, ford, whoever, GMC dont actually make them, they just take the money. ONE Nokia phone has very little do distinguish it from another nokia phone, under the cover, a lot of them are basically the same.

Colour me a deep shade of impressed.

Lately all the Nokias I have seen have been designed for (apparently) younger teenagers. Having reached 19 I decided last year that I wanted a new phone that had a bit of class and style, and chose the SE T610 (still IMHO one of the classiest looking phones out there). This summer I upgraded to a P900, which I love, but is a bit plasticky compared to the T610 (probably because it IS made of plastic )

However these new Nokias really impress me, because it looks like they've got in some designers that know what people want. In case you've had your head under a large rock for the last few months or more, you'll have noticed that "retro" is very much back in style, and Nokia have been very clever in picking up on that and releasing some phones that will appeal to a large audience, from fashion-conscious teens to, IMO, young professionals that don't necessarily need phones with half a computer packed inside.

Of course, once style changes again and retro is out (only a matter of time) those phones will suddenly look very very dated (in a bad way), but if the aren't priced too highly then it'll be easy for people to get rid and buy newer models.

Good marketing move from Nokia as I see it, and it would be nice to see SE release some phones styled a bit differently, because I believe they have the better build quality/software.

very nice,

but the 7270 is very much the same as the 6170.

not sure which 1 to go for,

think i need 2 c them both 2 make my mind up

Ok, we’ll admit that we were super skeptical about the 7280, which ditches the keypad entirely and has more of a pen-shaped design, but after playing around with it for a few minutes we decided it wasn’t so bad. It has this scroll wheel-type controller called the NaviSpinner which you have to use to navigate the user interface, and the idea is that you keep your just transfer over you contacts from your old phone along with your SIM card and then use the NaviSpinner to quickly find and select the person you want to call (and it actually works). You can still dial manually by entering other numbers by rotating the NaviSpinner and selecting the number you want, though it is more hassle than it’d be with a regular keypad. The big surprise was how easy it was to write a text message. We figured it’d be a serious pain in the ass, but Nokia tossed in this special predictive text software that unlike T9 doesn’t try to guess what word you’re trying to write out. Instead when you select a letter it automatically puts the letters that are most likely to follow the one you just choose (like if you’ve selected the letter “T” to start a word the odds are good that the next letter is either “a”, “h”, “e”, etc) and using the scroll wheel to pound out messages this way didn’t take very long at all. Not saying we’d toss aside the Treo for this thing, but the 7280 definitely has its appeal. Should also mention that it has a built-in digital camera (VGA quality only), Bluetooth, and the resolution of the screen is 208x104. A version with EDGE should be out in the States early next year.

I like the pen shape one

Posted by Sammy_boy
Hmmm, jurie's out on that pen phone!

It certainly looks great, but call me a traditionalist, but I'd still prefer a keyboard, no matter how smart this 'navispinner' is (great idea, though!)

Posted by marlonxp
at least i am not the only one who likes it.

Posted by Residentevil
I like the colour scheme. However, with Nokia releasing so many phones, I think their are reaching critical mass. You all know what that means.

with regards to Axxxrs' post:
i like the middle one the best.
