1. You need to configure a GPRS Data account (normally, it is different from WAP over GPRS), so ask Rogers.

2. Configure dial-up networking, on your notebook. The number should be given to you by Rogers (which looks like *99***2#)

Thanks for reply...!

My T68 is reconized by WinXP & use General IrDA Modem Driver. I can make a Dial up with the T68. Do I need to put any IP setting at my IrDa Connect DUN property under Windows..?

eg: user ID, Password, IP address ....

Thanks for more information..!

Yes, you can use your notebook to go to the net over GPRS. Though, I use a palm m505+T39m combo most of the time (like now), I have configured my laptop for GPRS dial-up in case I would want to use it.

Just create a new dial-up account using your newly created IrDA modem, use phone #: "*99**1#", no quotes. If your phone's data account's CID is not "1", change the number to the same CID that you use.

Make sure that you uncheck "use area code" from dialing properties. Use only " TCP/IP" and let TCP/IP auto-detect the IPs and DNS.

This works for my network, some tweaking may be required to make it work for you.

GOWIN : A question from me : you still need to use the T-68 ir-modem driver from sonyericssons site, right ?

Reason : I got two drivers from Ericsson (they send them to me).
They are called
erit68.inf
and
erit68ir_nt.inf

To be honest I dont know which one to use ?
I use win ME and IR.

the standard IR drivers should work. (My T39 was autodetected by XP)

erit68.inf <--- you should use this.
erit68ir_nt.inf <---- this is for windows NT

i didn't get my inf files from sonyericsson, it was an unofficial driver this page.

The page is dedicated to configuring ericsson phones and laptops.

Gowin : thanks.

I did have a closer look at the other one, and saw that it said NT.

My T-68 is reconized too by ME (standard ir).
I can send e.g. pictures,melodies.

(i still have the T-39 software on the laptop, seems to work ok. I will put the T-65 full-package on the laptop instead)

I was told that if I wanted to use the T-68 as modem,..I had to install the erit68.inf.
Is this wrong info ? or ???

Hi All,

When you install Package 5, it will install the drivers for R520, T39, T65 and T68. You're done! Just select which one to use.

Thanks Arnold & Gowin.

I'll have a go with the full-package-5 from the T-65.

Hello

I am trying to connect my laptop (windows 95) through my Ericsson T68 to the internet. I can do it fine using a dial up connection but would like to use GPRS. I have set up a new Dial up account and used "*99**1#" as the phone number and left all else blank. I use the Server type PPP: Internet, Windows NT etc. I leave the Advanced options blank and select only TCP/IP from alowed network Protocols. The TCP/IP settings are set to server asign. When I try to use it to dial up through the IR port the phone says GPRS request denied and the laptop says Error 720: Check network config and try again.

So does anyone have any idea how i can get it to work????

Thanks

Jeeves : When the phone says that,..I'll have to ask one thing :

Do you have a GPRS-account with your phone-operator ?

If you do have a gprs-account, make sure that the phone's data-accounts are using the gprs as well (the data account for your email on the phone,..and email settings)

Yes. I can use GPRS to access wap pages from the phone fine. However it will not let me use GPRS to pick up my pop email.

I have tried playing around with the laptops settings but am not getting anyware!!! Any ideas?
