Hi,
I'm new in Here and I just got SE T610 couple days ago. I like this phone because of the features. Now, I wanna transfer my Pictures, Musics, datas, Files from my pc to my T610. I search and found that Bluetooth adapter, Irda adapter and data cable can transfer datas between 'em. Can anyone advice me? Does all kind of bluetooth adapter will work? or Irda adapter? or maybe cheap data cable($5 on ebay.com... wow.. but dunno if it works or not)? which one is better? can anyone help me... |

Hi!
No, not all bluetooth adapters will work. I've just discovered that...
I found a whitepaper at http://www.ericsson.com/mobilityworld/
developerszonedown/downloads/docs/t610/t610_wp.pdf
There you can read which bluetooth services the T610 support:
Dial-up Networking Profile
Fax Profile
Generic Access Profile
Generic Object Exchange Profile
Headset Profile
Object Push Profile
Serial Port Profile
Synchronization Profile
Basic Imaging Profile
Handsfree Profile
The bluetooth adaptor must support these too. The only one certified by SonyEricsson is the TDK Bluetooth USB dongle, but there are more to choose from, just make sure they support these profiles.

Well, BT is the way to go, and if you do a search in this forum you'll find a few dongles that will work.
I suggest not to buy online, a regular store is probably better if the dongle won't work with your config and you have to return it... |

Here are some pros and cons for the BlueTooth, IR, and cable
BlueTooth:
Pros: Fast, stable (once you got it working), 10m range, support for all phone services (most features of the three)
Cons: More difficult to set up then IR, more expensive then IR
IR:
Pros: Easy to set up, faster then cable, cheaper then bluetooth
Cons: Slower then bluetooth, devices have to be near and lined up, doesn't support all the phone features
Cable:
Pros: Cheapest of the three. Most stable.
Cons: Only supports synchronization and sending files to the phone. Does not support receiving files from the phone. Very slow

I really wish someone would compile a list of BT-dongles that are confirmed to work with t610!
From what i have read so far, the TDK and MSI ones work, right?
Also seems like the Widcomm sw. is essential(?) AFAIK the MSI one comes with Widcomm sw? It is by far the cheaper of the two.. but should I go for the TDK and save me a heap of trouble?
Whaddaya say guys?

Well I confirm the Sony BA1 bluetooth dongle works fine if you wanna add that to the list!
edit: Win XP pro, driver is OPEN INTERFACE 1.0.0.1, and Sony bluespace 2.1

Thanks! Maybe it would be nice to add OS (Win98, 2k, XP) and driver version as well? That should really sort every "pre-purchase" questions?!

Good idea.
Mine runs fine on XP (professional), though the software I got with the dongle didn't work, so I downloaded and installed Tecom's drivers.

Any dongle that supports the neccessary BlueTooth profiles should work. TDK and MSI are the most common ones. I have Trust BT on WinXP and Win2000, never had a problem with it (they use Widcomm software)

MA-8910 Cable (USB with charging) or MA-620 IR with Handset Manager software are the best, see www.mobileaction.com
Hassnet is No 1 bluetooth adapter.

You still need to provide a driver for any type bluetooth dongle. |

@stevenlau:
Everything on USB is Plug-n-Play, but you will still need to install the drivers. When you buy a BlueTooth dongle, you will get a CD with drivers with it. First install the drivers, then plug in the dongle, and you are ready to go.
