According to the l8shop link above, the car only works with Sony Ericsson Z200 & Z600... That can't be right can it?
I remember seeing photos on another forum of someone playing with a pre-release car at a trade show using a T68i... |

My guess is that there would be specific firmware required for it. Although many phones have bluetooth, making a connection itself will not control the car and it would need a program on the phone that acts via the bluetooth to control the car.
Perhaps SE made such a firmware for the T68i so that they did not have to show off their new phones early, but perhaps that is only for the phones used in shows with the cars.
I guess weÄll find out more as time goes by...

Not necessarily... I think the car will act as an Accessory and appear in the (usually greyed out) Accessories menu (under Connectivity). Similar to the way Salling Clicker, PC Control, BT Control etc. work. I think the car will 'publish' a menu to the phone, which will allow you to control it using the keypad or joystick. In the same way that my Mac publishes a menu to the phone and allows me to control the computer using the phones keypad/joystick.
The T616, T610, T68m, T68i, R520m, T39m, & Z600 all have this Accessories menu. My guess is it will work with all these phones... |

hmmm... yeah I guess thats a possibility too. I have not tried these clickers yet and only used that accessory menu for my HBH headsets.
interesting...

You should really give them a go (Salling Clicker is the best one if you have access to a Mac) - you're missing out on a great use of Bluetooth!!
Salling Clicker remaps joystick and keypad clicks to other functions. For instance, using the iTunes remote:
Joystick Left/Right = Prev/Next Track
Hold Joystick Left/Right = Skip through track
Joystick Up/Down = Volume Up/Down
+/- (on side of phone) = Volume Up/Down
Left Soft Key = Pause/Play
Right Soft key = Select Playlist/Mute
So, you see its easy to remap the keys to do something else, like steer, accelerate and brake for the car! The latest version of Salling Clicker even displays the current time of a music track in realtime in the phones display. So maybe they could have a relative speed/distance travelled displayed on the phone while you're playing with it!! |
