i've had a t68i for 6 months and it has firmware R5A. my sister just bought a new one and it has firmwre R2F. how come??

from what i've read while searching this forum, the higher the second digit, the number (ie. 5), the newer the firmware. and it's the same for the last letter.

did se go back to R2F or something?

R5D
R5C
R2F
R2E
R2B
R2A

I think this is the queue for the T68i, ordered from new to old...

Yeah, you have the order right there.

The higher the second number the newer the version, and then the higher the third letter the newer.

So R5A is a lot newer then R2F.

I don't know how you managed to get R5A on your phone 6 months ago as it was only released a few weeks ago and has since been replaced by R5C then R5D.

When I got my phone 4 months ago it only had R2B!

Hope this is of help,

Simon

sure.. R5D is the latest.... but when buying a phone you can't count on getting it with the latest firmware... shops buys a bigger stock of phones from and then it can take weeks before they are sold... and during this time maybe release one, or even two new versions.. but those phones in the boxes at the shop are not updated...

latest hardware version is R8A for T68i... for T68m it's R4A.... just check the label... on some labels there are two R numbers like this, but then it's the highest which is the hw version.

normally the software is updated when a phone is on service, even though the user hasn't made any complains about problems with the software... but don't count on that you can get it updated on insurance by sending it again, since it was not long ago it was on service.
