Can't get Phone Monitor to recognize my T68i (Bluetooth conn.) |

Hi,
I am experiencing problems when trying to get my T68i recognized my SE's Phone Monitor. My setup is the following:
Windows XP Pro (SP1)
P4 2,53 mHz
Asus P4B533 Motherboard
Radeon 9700 Pro (Catalyst 3.0a drivers)
512 MB PC2700 RAM
Soundblaster Live! Platinum
Intellimouse 3.0 (Connected via USB)
MS Natural Keyboard (Connected via PS2)
Acer 24x10x40 CD-RW
Realtek 8139 NIC
MSI PC2PC Bluetooth Trancieving Key (MS-6967) (1.2.2.4 drivers)
Ericsson T68i (Package6_1_5_1.exe Modemdrivers)
This is where I am today:
- I've installed the MSI-adapter (using the 1.2.2.4 drivers that came bundled with the adapter) and successfully paired it with the T68i. I've managed to sync my T68i-contacts with Outlook using the services wich appears in "My Bluetooth places". I have tried to use the MSI Simtel-application but I won't recognize any Bluetooth-units (I've tried this while being not paired, being paired and being paired AND connected - but with no success).
- I've tried to install what is referred to in this forum as Package4 but I can't seem to get past the XTNDConnect-install; it says something like "Setup is not complete, restart your computer and run this file again to complete setup". But when I run the setup again it simply starts the XTNDConnect-setup, again (I've also tried "Package1" but with the same results as described previously). To remedy this I installed "Package6" and managed to get the Phone-monitor properly installed.
- After installing Package6 I've checked in "Control Panel > Phone Modem Options" to see if the modems are installed. Here I have "Bluetooth Fax Modem (COM5)", "Bluetooth Modem (COM6)" and "Bluetooth Null Modem" (COM7). Since neither of these appeared in my "Ericsson Mobile Modem Settings" I successfullt added "Ericsson T68 Bluetooth (TM) Modem" on COM10 - wich appears properly in "Ericsson Mobile Modem Settings".
- I've used the Connection Wizard to successfully ("Created 'Serial Port 2' connection with device 'Gustavs T68i'.") establish a serial connection between the T68i and my computer. The serial-connection is established on COM3. After establishing this I go to "Control Panel > Phone Monitor Options" wich doesn't reconize any phones attached to the computer. After pouring thru the threads in this forum I got to the conclusion that I had to enable the COM3-port wich is the port my BT-serial connection is selected to use. I've done this (I've also tried to reserve the COM-port) but without success. Still not recognized. Naturally all SonyEricsson-applications fail to reconize any phone and I can't use the phone the way I want (sending images and syncing calendar/contacts). I must add that I've tried to enable/disable all COM-ports in the "Phone Monitor" and I've also tried to right click on my BT-Serial Connection to select another COM-port... nothing works.
I've checked under my "Device Manager" and COM-ports 3-13 appears as "Bluetooth Communications Port".
I realize that this is a very popular subject and I have really tried to search for an answer before posting this, but it seems that no conclusion has been drawn (best suggestion so far is "I tried reconnecting the adapter... WHAM it worked like magic" - tried that and sadly it didn't work ). I might add that I've also tried other Mobileapps such as the MobileAgent, but without success.
I've e-mailed SonyEricsson- and MSI-support about this and promise to post it under this thread ASAP. I'm also going to phone Microsoft and get some value out of my my non-warez copy of WindowsXP.
Help me help you!
Best regards,

wow! now that's one detailed post about a problem
what do you mean by "won't recognize bluetooth units" what are bluetooth units?
it seems that you have already made a succesful connection when you synched your contacts between phone and pc. (btw, just in case you missed it, FMA does't depend on MPM so it's easier to diagnose whether the problem is software or hardware related) |

in mpm your phone is given a name you can change it in mpm
if the phone name on your phone (connect>Bluetooth>option>phone name)
is not the same mpm will not connect

Hrm... sorry for being a bit blurry on the "unit-subject"... obviously I really tried to not leave anything out... hehe. For the record: by "bluetooth-unit" I mean my T68i-phone.
I have actually managed to get the T68i recognized by the MPM! MPM apparently needed another program to search for the phone; in my case this program was XTNDConnect. I went thru the Wizard and named my Phone and SIM-card (I understand now what you mean my different names). After this I managed to sync my calendar and contacts using XTNDConnect.
After this I tried to use the MSI Mobilet application, wich of course made the whole computer to hang, and after restarting my computer couldn't even establish a serial connectionvioto the T68i by using "My bluetooth places". I've tried removing the phone and SIM from MPM but can't seem to get them recognized again... I am now back to square one. I will try to reinstall all apps, I'll post a reply later today about my results.

Hi,
I got an answer from SE support and they tipped me to remove a hotfix called Q328310 from my computer prior to installing the package. This resulted in that I could install the softwarepackage without any problems what so ever. After doing that I simply enabled and reserved the com-port in MPM to correspond with the com-port specified in "My Bluetooth Places". After establishing a serial-connection I fired up XTNDConnect, pressed "Synchronize" and after a while a wizard popped up and I simply followed it and haven't had any problems since.
Hopefully this has helped someone. Too bad that SE's online-faq is so useless - otherwise this problem would have been easy to solve.
Only problem I have right now is getting SE's Image Editor to work... if you have any idea about how to make this app recognize my T68i please reply under this topic: "Image Editor not reconizing my phone".

Download the latest driver for your MSI BUD, currently Widcomm 1.2.2.15, and unpack these in an temporary directory. Plug in your MSI BUD In a free USB slot, when the PC asks for an driver, point to your temporary folder with the latest driver. Install these, and reboot your computer, when finish.
Now it’s time to upgrade your MSI BUD, point to START->Programs->MICROSTAR->Device firmware upgrade, and follow the on screen instruction. The computer asks for the firmware, this are located in your install directory (Default c:\program files\...)
And now the tricky thing, finding the device. Make your phone searchable, and go to the Bluetooth Neighbourhood, and search for device. When the computer has found your phone, go back to your phone. In the Bluetooth menu, select search, hopefully the phone reports your computer as found, select an easy password, and put it in your phone, and put the same in Bluetooth neighbourhood. Now, the devices are paired.
If you want to use some programs from SonyEricsson, I will recommend package4, it contains all programs you need. When you have installed these programs, go into control panel, and select Mobile Phone Manager, set all ports as active, and start phone Book and text messages monitor. If the phone was found, you will see a wizard on the screen, follow these, and it’s all done.
