I downloaded the software, got it to work with the T39. I use IR for connectivity.
There are times that I get a message that says the phone is disconnected, even if the IR comm between the two is working (according to windows). Is there a way to manually re-establish the communication between the two devices within the application?
What i do right now is to exit the program, and re-launch it.
TIA

Found the answer!
Just do a manual re-synch with the phone will do the trick. |

the help file states that you can use cable (no specifications), bluetooth and IR for connectivity.
most likely, it would work. |

I use the MA (Mobile Action) Fone Data Suite for T39/68/68i/R320 and R520.
I comes with a USB Cable and works a treat to manage SMS's and my Phone Book

I hope to see improvements on future versions of the program like:
- i hate it that i must have to copy/paste (or memorize) the contact's number before i can send him/her an SMS
- an option to archive messages from the phone to the PC, instead of just copying them.
- what if they distribute the source of the program (or just the specs) so others can make their own software for their phones?

@GOwin,
a) why cut and paste when you can: Click 'New text message' in the toolbar then click on a phonebook entry and the number will be added in the Send text message window To: list. Use CTRL-click to select multiple phonebook entries to send SMS to more than one recipient.
b) i don't know if i understand your second point correctly but messages are archived because once the messages are 'copied' from the phone to the software, even though messages are now deleted on the phone, they remain on your PC.
c) i can't answer that question, but if you'd like to tinker around a little bit the phonebook and text messages are store on this file: C:\Program Files\Ericsson\Communications Suite\Phonebook & Text Message Manager\Data\ecsmca.xml
cheers.

@arnoldc
a. oops, i didnt notice that. probably because i still have lots of contacts who doesn't have mobile #s.
b. hmm, what i meant is that when the SW archives the messages. the actal messages gets deleted from the phone (or at least an option to do such)
c. thanks. i'll check it out. |

Anyone here got his Ericsson Phonebook and Text Message PC software crashing when fiddling with SMS, then looked into the program folder? Well, I noticed that all sent and received SMS messages via that software remains in a file called "ecsmca.xml" with the Ericsson software folder, even if yuo've "explicitly deleted" them and emptied the bin. This file gets bigger by the day as you use it.
Is there actually a way to properly flush those "cache"? Anyone tried. Hacking it won't do as that s/w just thinks its run for the first time.

guys,
i have a T39 and have been using the Phonebook and Text Message Manager from the CD that came with it.
I have been using it together with the DRS10 and i agree with GOwin's comments about improving it a bit (especially the part about the multiple addressees). I guess was used to using the Nokia Data Suite where i have already had the groups all setup with their names and all i have to do is cut and paste the names and click send. Its a bit of a pain to have to through go through the whole addressbook to click everybody that you want to send the text to especially if its more than 10.
Anyway, my wife was just given a T68 my her sister in law and the question is, would installing package 5 work for both phones in 1 computer? Would there be any conflicts if i switch from 1 phone to another
thanks

@hornet 26
i don't think it would cause any conflict. the Phonebook/text manager (PBTM) software i use was downloaded from the net (meant for the T68. it doesnt come in on my CD) and the ericsson software can recognize different phones on the same PC.
@elena
I haven't experienced the crashing problem. but just now, my PC hanged and I had to reboot with the PBTM left open. When I restarted windows, the PBTM just hangs.

Anyone can help me on this?
I got PBTM running on both my desktop and laptop. I've made some updates on laptop, and has synched my phone with it.
Now I deleted all my desktop address book contacts and attempted to synch the phone to no avail. I get the message: "Slow synchronization unsuccesful"
What should i do? |
