Where did you see that version?
I take it you are talking about the Widcomm software that Tecom promote with their driver for the USB dongle which is version 1.2.2.16.
The MSI bluetooth site has used to have the 1.2.2.14 version available on their site with their driver for the 6967. Now for some reason they have removed the Widcomm software altogether but (obviously) still have their driver available to download (BT45.exe).
TDK also must promote this software package with a version 1.2.2.18?
It must be made clear that although this software is common on these different sites and can be used with different dongles/keys you must make sure you get the correct and current USB driver for your particular dongle/key.
The software package be it version 14, 16, 18 will not necessarily have an up-to-date or even relevant driver for your key. For instance if you download the version 16 from Tecom's site (the first version to support Obex push so you can transfer to your pc from phone as well as the other way round) then the USB driver for that is a Tecom key and cannot be used with the MSI key.
I may be stating the obvious to some but I thought it needed to be clarified.
It seems you are saying that TDK now have a 1.2.2.18 version of the Widcomm software.
I won't be trying out as I have spent a long time getting all the functions to and from my phone to pc working properly with the 1.2.2.16 version I dowloaded from Tecom's site along with BT45.exe driver I downloaded from the MSI site to use with my 6967 key.
So I'm not going to change it!!

Hmmm... I may install it if I have any more problems with the version 16 in the future.
Where can it be downloaded? |

Anyone wanna post a link to the TDK version 18 software.
Surely, if I uninstall the Tecom ver16 that wont remove the drivers for my MSI key, as they are unrelated. |

What? They just made it exclusive for tdk or with just some brands? Is billionton compatible with it?

Just upgraded from .16 to .18. Read the readme first though. TDK's basic message is don't upgrade unless you've got problems. In fact, the dire warnings are a bit OTT: it's no different to installing the card over from scratch, which is trickier than a simple software upgrade, but no big deal really.
Best (possibly only?) improvement: you can now transfer pictures from the phone to the pc by BT. Pretty handy if you've got an MCA20. Previously, this was a no-go (you could send files in the opposite direction using the Christerson (?sp) Sendfile program).
It also has the voice gateway, and I could pair my laptop to my headset (jabra freespeak). However, the headset has no detectable services, so there wasn't much more I could get the pair to do. |
