hey all. got a question for anyone around queensland. i have an unlocked t616 and want to use it over there. i know that all i gotta do is get a sim from a store somewhere or something or other. how plentiful are these stores? like is there a place right there in the airport? i know that when it comes to cell phones, you guys, japan, and like all of europe are like way ahead of us so should this be hard?

also, while we're on the subject, do i need to get a sim from there to use the internet on my phone? i thought it would be cool to send pictures over here.

thanks!

I think Vodafone has a prepaid product called 'No Plans'. AFAIK it is the only prepaid product that gives you GPRS access. All the other prepaid stuff out here only has WAP via CSD.

Good luck with it. Tell the people at the store that you want GPRS and MMS activated on your service and Im sure they'd help you out.

Prepaid is the way to go with visitors here in Australia. You can buy prepaid accounts from all carriers (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone) and quiet a few rebadged reseller for those . They vary in their pricing and duration of validity. The cheapest at the moment is AAPT (www.aapt.com.au) with no flag-fall, 49¢/min billed per second, 6mths validity. They use Vodafone's network. Starter packs are available from Dick Smith Electronics, Tandy or other resellers listed on their web site at $20 for $20 of call. Recharge purchases start at $30. Hope this helps.
