Can Anyone help. I recently purchase a t68i and a data cable from ebay (the cable not being the official dcu-10 from sonyericsson).

Problem is I cant seem to get my Pc to detect to my phone.

I have installed all the software that came with the phone. (XTNDConnect etc.) as well as the mobile modem setings program and the communication suite from the sonyericsson website installed.

When I connect my phone to the PC using the USB cable it comes up with a windows dialog

New Device detected
`USB Device`, it is looking for drivers but it does not find any.

no matter what I do I cant seem to get anywhere.

What am I doing wrong?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled all software. I am ruinning with windows ME.

please help it is hurting my brain.

Any help appreciated

If you can, replace the USB cable for a standard serial port one, and then try it out...

I have the exact same problem but am running WindowsXP - did you get your phone to synch yet without buying the new cable?

Hi all:

Has anyone had any success with connecting a T68i to a Win 2k Pro PC via USB ? I just bought the cable (from ebay) and downloaded the SE software and am having all kinds of problems. I have the MPM software running; that was easy. The problem is that it seems that I can not install the phone into the Modem and Phone Options in the control panel. I did not receive a CD of drivers with the USB cable, I just tried to install the phone using the "Install New Modem" - Ericsson Mobile Platforms AB - Ericsson T68 Cable Modem selections. After I install it, I get the "not functional" messages in the "Attached to" column of the Phone and Modem Options dialog box. I have installed the SE packages Package1_1_5_1.exe and Package6_1_5_1.exe.

I just want to download some themes, images, and logos to the T68i.

I've tried via WAP and I get the issue of the file being to big for the gateway. And I don't have any IR or BT devices for my PC.

Thanks for any assistance with this.

USB cable requires a software driver (which is a driver for an USB -> COM port device). The original SE cable comes with that driver. A serial cable is much more simple to use. If your PC doesn't have a serial port, you can get a USB->COM port device (say the BAFO brand) which comes with a driver disk. I have both the SE USB cable and an after-market serial cable with the converter and they both work flawlessly.

Thanks so much for the info. Very helpful.

Do you happen to know where I could find this cable software drivers to create the USB -> COM [virtual?] port connections? I couldn't find anything on wap.SonyEricsson.com, but perhaps it is a commercial driver and not freely distributable? ... Thanks again...

If anyone else might know where I could get these drivers and/or if they are compatable with a non SE USB Cable DCU-10/11, please let me know.

Many thanks.

The driver is not from SE, it's made by another company. I have to see if I can locate where you can get it. Another thing, are you sure that the cable you got is a data cable and not just a USB "charging" cable, which does nothing except recharging the battery?

Yes, I'm sure it's a data cable. After I read your post, I went back to eBay to find the item, and inadvertently came across a different aution for the identical item from the same company:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3009718416&category=20348

This auction, however, had more information, specifically pointing to the driver which I need:

http://www.cellexwireless.us/t68usb/usbinst.htm

The PDF docs in the driver package specifically mention that "after you download the driver from the SonyEricsson web site..." so I don't know if I just didn't find it there, or they removed it, or something else. It certainly wasn't in the obvious spot (driver section of the site.)

Anyway, this looks like exactly what I need. It just wasn't referenced in the other aution (which I won) so I didn't know about it... I think I'm away now; but I'll confirm that tonight...

Thanks for you help.

Oops.. my bad. Go to www.sonyericsson.com, look up Support, then click on Global Support, where you can enter the SE USB cable model number. There, you will find the drivers. (You might not find it under regional support)

Ah, yes. Well done. The non-locatable USB cable drivers on the SE site was only through my shortfall of hunting for them. The 2 sets of drivers are similar but not the same. The SE ones are newer.

Hopefully at least 1 of the sets will work. As I have what amounts to a DCU-10 clone, I'll try the recommended drivers for it first.

Looking forward to downloading some themes and pics.

Final note on this issue: downloaded and installed the driver from the previous link, and the utils work like a hot damn. Themes and images on the T68i with little effort.

Life is good.
