Change the covers on the T68 |

Went into a shop here in Norway yesterday and asked for the "new" T68i, they had no clue when they would be getting it.
Anyways we started talking and these guys started showing "their" T68's. They have modefied their phones totally. One had the Lunar gray as a starting point. He then changed only the gray plastic front (keeping the grei alu earpice) and changed it for the gold one. This looked SO much better then the standard T68 Gold because it was not as flashy. They also said, that you could change the back of your "new" T68i into the rubber one. They then showed me how I could remove the plastic covering the antenna. All you then have to do is buy a new "oldstyle" battery. This IS what I'm going to do. Then all we have to do is wait for some Chinese company to produce new covers for the T68.....
Now if you have your local SE service point modify the phone, my guess is that this will not fukk up your warranty... nice? |

Hello,
Can you please tell me how to remove the antenna cover so that I can remove the front cover? Because yesterday I got my T68 back from Ericsson Service center in Holland and I got a fingerprint underneath the display. So that is pretty irritating. I can reach the 2 screws at the bottom, but I can't find the screws on top. I think it's underneath the antenna cover. So can you PLEASE help me, and tell me how to remove the antenna cover?????
Thanks in advance..
Dani

hate to ruin the fun...
no serious servicepoint does modifications of that kind... change cover... yes.... but not as what you described by making a mixed cover.... so no, it will not have any warranty after such a modification. If you after a modification should have problems with your phone and have to leave it to a servicepoint they will not believe you if you say the modifications were done by a servicepoint.

to remove the cover, use a very small screw driver place the shaft of the driver on the side of the phone and put the end of the driver under the lip of the cover and just flip it up it comes out very easy, you will then see the other 2 screws, when you remove the screws the cover is removed by placing your finger nail between the 2 covers and they will part, be very carefull when touching the screen it mark's very easly, when you put the phone together again check that the vibrator is working as the motor is in the front cover.

FIRST, thank you for you post.
SECOND:'to remove the cover, use a very small screw driver place the shaft of the driver on the side of the phone and put the end of the driver under the lip of the cover and just flip it up it comes out very easy'.
What do you mean with this? Are you talking about the front cover, or antenna cover? So if I understand this correctly, I have to flip te cover from the side? By the volume button??

To remove the front cover you need to remove the antenna cover, remove the battery keep the phone in the palm of you hand (face down) on the antenna cover you will see 2 pieces of black plastic to the left and right you need to pull these out a little to remove the cover if you place a small screw driver on the edge of the phone and place the blade of the driver just under the lip of the plastic you can lift it up one side at a time. and you only need light pressure to remove it.
cheers

Mr, Wolfiemac, I did it! Your instructions were very good. It was very easy to remove the antenna cover and then the whole front cover. Maybe now I can buy a gold cover and change it with my Lunar Grey one....
hihhh

@Cytech: This is indeed a serious SE Service point and if the shop does mod's on your phone and neglect to tell you that this is not covered by warranty, they are by law (Norwegian) required to provide warranty.
If they do repair on the T68 then they now what they are doing and changing the coers is easy and does not "alter" the phone..
