Hello...
I REALLY want to upgrade the software for my T68m. However, SE USA are being complete a-holes regarding the upgrade process. (One woman from SE tech support even raised her voice to me today, then put me on hold FOREVER!)
I talked to my service provider (AT&T), and a helpful worker said I ''could'' send my phone ''somewhere'' outside the US to get the upgrade done. My question is this:
Where in the UK can I send my T68 to have the software in it upgraded to that of the T68i? Any addresses/phone numbers of specific stores or service points that are renowned for their great service? Also, would I have to send in the whole phone (with the SIM card, etc.)? Thank you all for your replies.

hi i think you can, but you will have to pay alot on postage i sent my phone off to the main upgrade depot takes ten days to be upgraded and sent back but it cost me 5.50 pounds thats almost $9 andif you send it over seas that will most likely tripple,
here the uk nummber you need to ring 004408705 237 237
and then press one to talk to ericsson uk who will forward you onto a mesage with details of where to send you phone hope this helps |

Gee you must be really desperate to get the upgrade! I never thought a phone would cross the Atlantic to get a software upgrade! I bet it will be a momentous occassion in history of mobiles! I can see tomorrows tabloids screaming:
'First crossing of T68 across the Atlantic to get s/w update!'
And when it comes back to you the papers will be carrying a photo of you being carried on shoulders of SE employees and you waving your T68
ok ok .. im just being silly. |

Wow!
I can't wait to achieve such fame!!! LOL!
Seriously though, I had no idea it took 10 DAYS to do this upgrade (I was thinking more like 10 hours). Hmmmmm, I just really want the photographic phonebook feature!! Any suggestions? Should I wait or send?!
Thanks for your replies!

Yes, they will upgrade your phone in the UK. Actually, I find Tech support in the UK much more helpful than the US. I heard of people getting there phones scratched and damaged from sending there phones in to the US service point.
So, they’ll upgrade your phone for free in the UK, you’ll just have to pay for shipping.

You can actually get the upgrade here in the US, there is a guy on howardforums.com that will do the upgrade for a small fee.

Hmmmm....
This guy sounds interesting, but I'm a bit apprehensive about sending my phone to an individual not directly related to SE. Does anyone out there have one on one experience with the guy? Thanks again for all your help, people!

Fleet Communications, London SE9 will do the upgrade free of charge and it takes 30mins. Only thing is they only have one machine so by the time you read this there will be a long waiting time as everyone will be there!!
Got mine done today, at first it is really slow then wow it is such a great improvement, in all aspect just wish it was nokia fast, oh well at least it is ericsson!!

Thanks again for all your help guys...
Matrix: Could you please tell me (and everyone else) how the whole process went once you get your phone back on Saturday? Also, did you send in your SIM with the phone, or just the phone and battery? Oh yeah; how did you back up all of your data in the phone before the send? Thanks for your input, and for putting up with my questions!
JC#79 Blitz: Thanks for the info regarding the UK SE center. I may end up by utilizing this service.

I think the problem is not sending it overseas, but getting it sent back to you after the service. Most service points simply don't send internationally.
You either wait until SE in the U.S. do it for you, or send it to that guy.
Like you said, I wouldn't send it to an individual, even though everyone seems to be satisfied with his service. Too many issues.
You should keep your SIM with you when you send your phone away.

@higuy83, there is a person who can upgrade SonyEricsson phones, T68 included, in the U.S. for a reasonable fee (like shipping) and turn-around time of three days.
His email address is ke3ee@attbi.com
He has a pretty good reputation, read all about him in another forum.
