Here's my take on this:

My first phone was Nokia 7110. For a year I was satisfied with phone until I outgrew it. Last year alone Nokia has released so many new models, some with just minor or incremental upgrade e.g., 33xx series, 62xx series, etc.

I'm not saying that SE is better than Nokia. The primary reason I switched to a T68i is because the phone already has a number of features built-in (color, IR, bluetooth, MMS, etc.) plus you can purchase additional add-on devices should you want them. With a Nokia handset, that time, you're stuck with feature set that came with your phone. If you want an additional feature, you need to buy a new handset. No IR on your 3310? No problem, get a 6210 or 7110. You want integrated keyboard with MP3? Ditch your handset and buy a 5510. Want a bluetooth, ditch your 6210 and get a 6310i. Want an integrated FM radio. Ditch your phone and get a 5510 or a 6510. Tired of monochrome screen? Ditch your 6510 and get a 6610 or 7210. Want a camera? Throw away your phone and get a 7650. I've heard of freedom of choice but this is too much!

Now with my T68i, starting with the built-in features, I can purchase additional add-ons as I need/want them. I could get a HPR-11 and I get to enjoy FM radio. Want a keyboard? Get a Chatboard. Want MP3? Get a MP3 handsfree. Need a camera? Get the MCA-10 or MCA-25. All of these without having to throw away my phone. Plus I could lend the add-on devices to my wife who also plans of getting a SE phone.

It's just lately that Nokia adopted the concept, thus the "Pop" port, which Nokia claims will be the standard interface for the newer models. I hope they did this a long a time ago.

Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preference. In the end, we, the consumers, are the winners. We just have to make an intelligent choice.

@adrktemplar, well said sir, that sums it up in a nutshell :-) i agree that the enduser is always the winner.funny thing is we are here at esato to talk about our mobiles especially SE.almost all of us had experiencd having a nokia so this somewhat becomes our basis for comparison re:features, performance and whatever.yet some guys who own nokia stil hang out here,i'm not discrimatory or smething but if u guys think ur nokias are better why do u stil hang out here?isnt there a CLUB NOKIA?;-)

Besides my ever-trustworthy T68, these days I am test-driving a new Nokia 6100. Beautiful, very small, no software problems like the 7210/6610, screen better than the T68, poly tones, java, faceplates, etc. STILL, why is it that I have this feeling that it will die on me at any given minute?

what really bugs me about nokia is that they always seem to REMOVE a feature from all their phones. look at the the t68: you have a color screen, GPRS, Bluetooth, and tri-band capability. granted that when it came out, java and poly tones were not yet on the market.

but if you look at nokias, whether its the 7650, 7210, 6610, 6100 or the 88xx's, there is always something missing from what i think are the 3 most important things. if they give you bluetooth, they take away tri-band. if they give you a tri-band, then sorry, no bluetooth for you.

so if you're a real power user, you will never be satisfied with a single nokia model. i guess if all you want is to make calls, send sms and have funky ringtones, then nokia is the way to go. but if you need serious data capabilities, then there really isn't anything to think about.

@Senninha, if your not into looks, the 3650 has everything you wan't... That's actually one Nokia phone that's got it all, feature-wise.

Nokia certainly do a better job at marketing and flooding the market with new models every few months. However, for the serious folks Ericssons have always been better phones. They were before Nokia with Bluetooth and color screens and of course handwriting recognition on a phone (R380s). Sure we do not get picture messages with Ericsson (now changed of course) but that's the way it is.
Sony Ericsson continues to face a grim future and might not be around in 3 years' time (seriously hope not) but after using their phones for 9 years now I attest to their durability and functionality.
After all when Ericsson was making telephones 100 years ago (yes they were) Nokia were in the paper-making business!

Well, Nokia and SE will have a lot of problems with Motorola and Samsung. The two of them are catching up with Nokia in terms of market share. Competition is going to be stiff this year.

I mean one more thing that makes me not buy nokia is that here in the philippines, since its like taking candy from a kid, you sport your nokia while commuting, you'll end up getting robbed of your phone!! i had a friend who had an ericsson T10 the bus that she got on was held up, when they took the passengers' celfone and found that she had a T10, they literally threw it back on her face!! sheesh!! live and let die, give nokia fans what they want and i'll have what i want. its everybody's game.

einstein didnt come up with E=mc2 by just accepting what was "factual" in his own time. its good that we share opinions. BRAIN EXERCISE. You dont use it, you lose it.
