Connection via BT to PC to surf |

If I have a PC(or notebook) which is linked to the internet and the PC/notebook is BT capable, how do I link my P800 to my PC/notebook so that I can surf using my P800 via my PC/notebook's connection to the internet? |

Sorry I misread your original post and responded differently. I guess I need help as well...

How to connect to your internet connection through Bluetooth on your P800:
1) Download this Java browser and install it on your P800
http://www.reqwireless.com/webviewer.html
2) Set up your bluetooth connection on your PC and P800. Make sure that the bluetooth
icon on your P800 shows that you're connected.
3) Open the reqwireless WebViewer while you're connected to bluetooth and, off you go
surfing the web for free. Normally when you use the WebViewer you should see a GPRS
icon at the bottom of your phone, but now you don't, which means you're surfing the
web through bluetooth and your PC's internet connection!

Check out the P800 Tips & Tricks thread. It's very easy using WebViewer or Opera, both these browsers will accept BT as the access point before GPRS/dialup.
Just make sure you're connected to your PC through BT, using PC-suite to initialise the connection. Then just start the browser of your choice(Opera?). If you don't see a globe icon on the bottom of your P800 screen, you're connected to your PC's internet account.

I did see your posting in the tip and tricks but when I tried to do it, the connection keeps using the GPRS instead of my PC's internet connection. Any idea why? |

Well, if you're using the built-in browser you'll have a harder time making the P800 accept BT as an access point. Try using Opera or the reqwireless WebViewer. They should accept BT without any hassle. But then again the problem may be elsewhere...Perhaps some kind of firewall keeps your P800 from connecting to your PC's internet connection...?

Out of interest: is this (Bluetooth access to desktop's Internet connection) possible without having PC Suite installed on the desktop?
Two reasons:
1. PC Suite is kack (IMHO) and
2. Sometimes you're near a BT enabled pc that doesn't have this piece of **** software installed. |

yes, but mrouter software is a must.
So this must be installed to get surfing working at the sonyericsson.

Unfortunately it's exactly the mrouter part that manages to FUBAR every pc I unleash it on.
Still, thanks. |
