Here's my K750/W810 Hybrid:

Well, a few days ago I got the bug to change my K750. Ultimately I've wanted an all black K750 for a while, but thought I'd go looking for a W800 housing to play with and maybe go black/orange. I couldn't get a hold of a housing no matter where I looked or who I rang, so I had to cool my heels and play with FAR instead

Today I went into my local phone store to see if they have any housings, but all they have is a w810 housing with no buttons, for $35 (cheap here - usually they are more like $60). So I grab it.

Below are my findings, and the end result

1. You can relatively easily mod the chasis of the w810 to take a K750 back cover, but if the camera switch is present you need to fabricate a mount for it since the W810 doesn't have one.
2. With a K750 internals installed in the w810 chasis the w810 front cannot be used, due to button differences.
3. To use the W810 back on a w810 chasis with the camera switch present (w810 doesn't have one), you need to mod the w810 inside back cover a little to make room.
4. The K750 chasis can be modded to take the W810 fronts and backs, however the K750 hardware doesn't accomodate the keypad of the W810.

My K750 now has W810 middle and back (making it all black, with silver and orange trimmings). Keypad lights have been tinted orange with clear plastic below the keypad. Camera active lense switch sits unused under the back cover, in permanently on. The camera now needs to be activated by pressing the camera button for 2 seconds, or going into the menu.

Modding chasis and covers was simple, just a matter of removing little bits of plastic here and there that don't match up. This can be done without affecting the phones structural integrity. The hardest part for this mod was removing enough plastic from inside the W810 back cover for the camera switch to fit snug and safe incase I ever fit the K750 back. I also had to fit a piece of cloth in the speaker grill, since the housing came without any furbishments. See cloth in pic below:

This mod was stress inducing interspersed with intense moments of fear I'd destroyed any chance of reassembling the K750 in one piece, but in the end not as hard as I thought it was going to be and well worthwhile.

Very nice. Has the same feel as the W810 now (the back is more rounded)

that's the only dis to this mod.

I'll see how I go, If I don't like it I'll sort a mount for the camera switch and fit the K750 back cover instead.

But it looks so cool I'm tempted to just get used to no slider.

I'm stoked, this turned out way better than I hoped. It's a shame you can't use the W810 front, but using orange tint for the keypad gives it the orange and black look of the W810.

The phone now is K750 in electronics and front cover only. Software is W800 R1BC002. What pleases me most about this mod is that it gives the W800 software some legitimacy without needing to use a W800 shell (white and orange - not for me). This also gives me the black with orange trimming look I like about the w810, without needing to upgrade to a phone that's virtually the same as what I've got.

Sounds like a motorbike

How about W809 ie: not quite a W810 (actually, far from it.)

Thats looks really good. I agree with those that dont like the big sliding panel on the K70i, I prefer the W800i version. It is the same on the W810i? Cos its alot more subtle. Thats the one fault with the K800i also, the camera cover keeps sliding open!

I prefer having an active shutter, though the one in w800 back is more subtle than K750. But I'll give the W810 back a go. It looks good
