I was thinking of upgrading to a P990i, but only if the tomtom s/w is available for it. I have used it now for a long time on my P910i and it works very good.
Anybody when it will be available ?

Id give it a few weeks before its available on the p990i or maybe sooner. Have you tried emailing the company that makes this software, im sure thy would know better than us here. |

I spoke to TomTom at the London Motor Show earlier this week. They didn't even know what Symbian or UIQ was and were totally uninterested in listening to customer requests, so I think the chances of a UIQ3 version are looking slim.
Great software, rubbish company! |

I have grave doubts that there will be a UIQ any time soon (this year) or ever. TomTom will be concentrating on their other products. They removed UIQ version from there web page a little while back.
One of the reasons I will probably going with WM 5.0 smartphone next time round. |

Well UIQ is already death so they would probably bring it for Series60 only but even for S60 they won't bring it! |

wait until the phone comes out first and then call tom tom direct and see what they say because there still is support on the website for uiq via tom tom 5 how do i know this well under products for mobile 5 memory stick duo is still mentioned so they may have a version of tom tom 6 in the pipeline and tom tom 6 has already been mentioned on this site there supposed to be waiting for p990 to become available first just use the search function and you will see

To be honest I wouldn't expect to ever see new versions of TomTom Mobile on UIQ or maybe even series 60 again. TomTom's whole focus has changed over the last year or so to selling their own PND's which presumably have far more margin in them, and they can certainly shift far more volume to consumers through the retail channel.
I suspect Route 66 will be the only viable UIQ navigation software (and I used Wayfinder on my old P910i so on that basis, and unless it has changed drastically its not exactly what I'd call viable).
Tomtom were never really interested in UIQ on the P910i in the first place - they'd had the software working and ready to go for ages (ISTR at least 18 months before release), but decided for "commercial reasons" to delay its release until it was almost not worth bothering. |

You'll have your Tom-Tom before you get your P990 |

It will not come, only when they can do a deal with a provider or with SE. That is not planned at this stage, so no TT for P990i, W950i or M600i.
There will also not be a TomTom 6 version for S60, S80 or S90. TomTom is only willing to bring it when providers, retailers or brands are interested in package deals.
I will buy a TTGO 910 and build that into my car. Next to that I will use the P990i as MP3 player in my car....... The FM transmitter is quite suited for that.
