s700i - Video software which can play full-screen? |

Hi
I'm looking at purchasing the s700i, but a recent review I've read states that the s700 doesn't play videos at full screen.
Is this true?
Are there any java apps which can play video in full screen?
Basically I'm looking at converting some films/tv programs to fit the screen (wide-screen mode, turning the phone on its side) for the long journeys I have to make. I don't want a full-blown PDA phone, and I don't want a small DVD player. Just something which will pass the time and not be too small.
I'm looking at the s700 because I've seen the screen quality (which is unbelievable), and because its a great replacement for my current digital camera (which isn't 1mp).
Can anyone offer any advice? |

I can tell you that the S700 is fabulous. But it's true, you can't lay the movies full screen. And software to get this, I don't know if it is out there.

I'm not really interested in purchasing a P*** phone, mainly because I'd not use all the functionality. I want a megapixel camera, mp3 player, phone, and (if poss) video player, that can fit in my pocket and doesn't look silly.
I think the s700 is the one for me, but I really want the video thing. I go a lot of travelling by train, and journeys usually take about two hours - perfect for watching the odd movie or tv episode. But I don't do it enough to warrent the purchase of a portable DVD player, and converting movies to the correct size and format doesn't bother me. Having 10 or 20 movies that can fit on a 128 card and are watchable on a s700... I think that would beat most of the personal video players out there!
Indiandawg: Is there anyway you could get a copy of the java files that developer was working with? I wouldn't mind having a nosey at the code. Might even be able to tweak it to work on the s700. |

@troymclure
yeah!
but if you use pvauthor you can make it a bit larger - take a look at my site, and check out the before/after pics.

@supra2800: Just checked out your site. This is a little better at least. However, you state that the file "is encoded with also 176x144 but in mp4" which increases the size. Does this mean that the s700i just "scales-up" the image? |

@neocookie
I dont know really
Its encoded 176x144 in PVAuthor, but the phone appears to think its 320x240 (says so in the Info boks), so I would think the phone scales it down. But I really dont know actually.
Either way - it works
However, I noticed last night while watching a 22min episode of Simpsons, that the video froze at 17min, while the audio kept going in the back, but the picture remained the same. I dont know if this is because of the 'special' encoding, or just the video playback that suck a little. Gonna do a few tests in the weekend. |

I tried to use your profile with PVAuthor (v. 3.3.1).
First of all, when loading the profile the program warned me about some missing parameters on the profile.
Then i encoded a video and.......NOTHING!
No fullscreen or full-width for that matter.
Have i missed something?
