In the Oscars they sometimes do a 'lifetime achievement' award, and I think there should be room in the Esato Awards for a similar thing. Rather than voting on it, I think people should nominate someone and give a detailed reason why. If seconded, it would go before Laffen and the Moderators for a final decision. Moderators could be nominated too but would be excluded from deliberations. Nominations could be done throughout the year leading up to the Awards and in a separate thread, with consideration during the Award voting period and the announcement coinciding with the Awards announcement. No award need be given out every year if the judges feel the criteria for the Award hasn't been met.
Criteria could include contributions toward the greater good such as:
- regular posting of relevant news
- creation/maintenance of important threads
- helping other forum members find solutions to problems
- contributing to the positive community spirit of esato
- multiple Esato Awards
- other significant reasons such as longevity.
What do you guys think? More importantly, would Laffen and the Mods go for it?
