SONY Xperia Rumors 2013 Edition |

looks good, while its true it's small, the size of the RF transmitter, the power supply as well as the heatsink makes this impossible to use for mobile phones, what's worse it took a couple of minutes before the bulb illuminates at its maximum apparent brightness. this just shows that LEPs are complex lighting systems and are not suitable as Xenon flash replacements at any rate

Well, we still have 2 months left to wait if it would be xenon, LED or Plasma. |

Forget plasma, the technology is still too premature for it to replace Xenons besides those Plasma flashes that usually show up on some Japanese phones could just be a glorified LED bulbs with higher light output. yet they're still nowhere close to Xenon bulbs like the ones used on past phones like the C905. also if Plasma bulbs are superior to Xenons then 99% of all cameras should've come equipped with it instead in the first place.
I'd personally go for an MXE-60 like accessory instead, so that all existing Xperia smartphones can benefit from the xenon goodness as well

Hey guys, I am not sure to understand the disapointment of some.
I think it is not rational, i guess a lot of passion on this forum.
In a sense sony is lucky to have passionate fans
My understanding is that Sony is preparing for the honami, which will be the first born of the one sony strategy.
The rumors we have now tend to indicate it will not be the dream camera phone of some.
However, how can we say it will be behind the competition?
In the rumors, we still have:
- form factor that please the majority, slim enough, and stylish design (ok it is relative but they surely spend efforts on it)
- built quality & materials above competition including iphone
- water and dust proof
- crazy screen quality, on par, maybe above samsung
- best sound on the market for a phone
- crazy battery life
- best camera for a general purpose phone, straight from the imaging department, so clearly far better than iphone, gs4, we need to see low light performance against htc1. Only Nokia may be better on their camera centric phone, but do they have any of the above in the package.
- oh did i mention snapdragon 800?
- unique line of accessory (although personally i won't use it, don't see myself bring lenses with me for my phone)
I think that we are talking about the best phone on the market, not simply the best of sony, which a camera centric phone cannot acheive. A general purpose phone to take on the gs4 and iphone.
Can I live with that? I will try my best!
Secondly, for the folks that originally wanted a crazy cameraphone beyond what honami is currently rumored to offer, and i include myself. Keep it up! We still do not know what Maiaramdan contact saw, and sony is said to have a mystery phone in the works, so still have chances to see an even better camera on a phone this year that could blow Nokia EOS. But then be ready for compromise on the form factor for instance (fine by me, i would know why)
Ramu, do i have anything wrong re the current state of rumors or is the summary about correct?

Lol I'm very confused with this thread, earlier a lot of members say they don't want xenon and that LED is already perfect, now that there are rumors saying there is no xenon, again a lot are disappointed, as for me I'm not giving up on hoping it will have xenon until it's official announcement .

I did say that there will be disappointment.
That is unless there are two spectacular phones, one being no compromise camera phone and the other being as good as you can get in a stylish package.
This may happen after it has emerged Maia has seen a camera centric phone and huiyi has seen something obviously different.

@Ricky D, yes, honami rumors tends to indicate a general purpose phone, and some here clearly wanted a camera phone rivaling 808 pureview.
But honami is still supposed to boast a great camera. I cannot be disapointed at this point: I will wait and see the actual performance and in low light in particular.
If honami allows to take pictures without flash in many situations it will be fully satisfactory for me. (i will survive with needing a real camera to shoot in complete darkness).
Now if sony releases a super camera phone (i am looking for the June 27 camera event, if for real), then i will have a problem to choose between the best camera phone and the best phone, but i am actually looking forward to have this problem
@Maiaramdan, please let us know updates if you could contact your insider source, i am very interested. No need more details, just if it is for real!
