agreed with unknown:
why the dip and "disappointment" in honami?
it's a camera-centric smartphone, NOT a Phone Camera...
Come on guys...if we really want to shoot master quality, just buy a real professional photo camera, from Sony or other brands... it's about the whole package: its design, its performance, its other functions, not just taking photos, but also screen quality for watching videos, photos and playing games. we should focus on the other stuff as well.
really no need to complain and be disappointed JUST because of the sensor size. Same for complaints on "bezel" when we dont even have seen the official final design of Honami. If you want to imagine, just imagine it as a Z & ZU perfect combination, its that simple >.< have more trust in Sony's design direction, they wont SUDDENLY bring out something totally weird or different. They all follow the same direction with small improvements everytime.

So sick of those useless trolls who declares that due to the camera sensor size, it's automatically a failure.
Personally I think Honami's sensor willl outclass the one used by HX50v, but remember it's not just the sensor that dictates image quality, for instance an APS-C 60D with canon L glass will outperform a full frame dual-digic5 1Dx using cheap lens. RX100 will do the same thing on an A99 with a standard Sony (not Zeiss or G-lens) glass.

So, the Honami mini is supposed to be announced at the same event as Honami? What do we know about the mini? I think i´ve read somewhere (probably here) that the mini should have roughly the same hardware and not cheap-out like samsung with their mini's.
Is there a chance that Honami mini and "ray 3" is the same device? And it will be out Q1 2014? Do we know anything about price? |

I think honami will use 2/3 sensor because the ISO of honami leaked camera can go up to 12800. I think if the sensor is 1/2.3, the ISO couldn't reach 12800. This is my opinion only and I could be wrong but I hope I'm not

Honami mini is ray 3

even there was news about honami mini, I still doubt its existence... dont feel like that Sony copies Samsung or HTC strategy of releasing mini's.
I just read that HTC will release: HTC One Mini, and HTC One Max... My 1st reaction:

Why can't you have a 16:9 aspect ratio for 20MP pictures? This would be awesome if the Honami had this.
because it's impossible, physical wise Honami's sensor uses 4:3 format, so cropping the sensor to 16:9 despite using up all available horizontal photosites will only yield a total of 13.6MP (5248*2592), so it's impossible to expect anything more than 13mp.

I think 15 mp as 16:9 would give 5248x2952

Isn´t sony doing exactly what HTC and samsung does? Look at the Z range! Regular Z, Z Ultra and ZR!? Basicly the same design. Big, bigger and medium. |

well, I think its different though. S4 and S4 mini. One mini, One max,
its just the same with nerfed specs... same design, almost even same naming. while with the Z series are really different to me;
- Z the 1st omni balance & resistance with glass, in black/purple/white.
- ZR deep water-rest. focused, arc+omni combination in summer colours (mint ,pink etc),
- Z ultra, PHABLET big screen big entertainment, metal frames & magnetic charging dots, with stylus support! (also black/purple/white)
- and soon Honami, camera-focused with One Sony strategy, incl ZU's metal frames, magnetic dots (also black/purple/white)
These all are really different to me than just: small, medium and big.

I guess design philosophy is shared, but their functions and purpose are distinct and unique compared to their siblings.
I cannot say that for the current Galaxies and Ones... |

Nightwing, if you're wondering why nobody responds. It has been said ages ago, the render you are reffering to is a standard Xperia render. Found in the Update Center app of Sony for example. Has NOTHING to do with a phone... |

Along with medium, big and bigger goes slightly different functions to suit what Sony believe will be important to the person who would want to buy that particular size. It's not just a case of grabbing the corner, stretching and 'save as'.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |
