I like the natural colours of the Xperia cams. I know we have been arguing about this on Esato for decades but who really looks at photos up close to examine pixels in ultra minute detail?
I certainly don't.

Z2

Video playback time: Up to 10 hours***
Z3
3100 mAh
Talk time: up to 16 hours***

Z3+
2930 mAh
Talk time: up to 17 hours
Standby time: up to 590 hours
Music listening: Up to 91 hours
Video playback: Up to 580 min
Music playback is shorter than before, could it be that it has a dedicated AMP now? Now I am more curious to see how Sony deal with the performance throttling of s810. Consider the Z3+ waterproofing means it seal tight, it will be much harder to solve than other devices unless Qualcomm really tweak the hardware itself. |

I am impressed they managed to get almost 10 hours of video playback with a smaller battery.
What I would want to know is how many hours of web surfing you can get.
About the Snapdragon 810. Is it possible this is a later revision of the SoC itself with a lot of the quirks sorted?
I actually feel excited to get the Xperia Z3+.

So the difference between Z2 and Z3+ in battery size is significant.
Yes it's a good question - how much the smaller battery and new SoC will change
the screen usage time, browsing and things like Maps.
I am sooooooo happy with Z2 in this regard.

Hey man, we're grown up people here, that realise the fact that benchmarks mean nothing for day to day usage.
I'd like a nice comparison with S6 and z3+ put under heavy load in gaming, app loading, 4G traffic, and see if throttling occurs.
try harder...
There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed.

Where I work we have scientists and clinicians. Scientists will look at 'benchmarks' all day and night and clinicians will ask, 'how will that help my patient?'. If a patient has a tumour you could blast him with chemotherapy, radiation and photon beams altogether to cure him but that is overkill. A good Doctor may just give him chemo and send him home tumour free and happy. People get hung up over benchmarks all the time. Its not important. SD801, 805, 808, 810, Exynos all run Angry Birds the same so what does it matter? Apple has shown for the last 10 years that it doesn't matter, user experience is the key.
When you mention Galaxy S6, some people say that its the 'best phone' but the next comment is about battery life or no SD card slot. Talking about the G4, the first thing people say is great camera features or mention leather on the back. Nobody mentions SD808. With Sony its the 'same design' or 'just a minor upgrade'. What else? Nothing. Spend two minutes with the copper Z3+ and all this about the SD810 is forgotten, there is nothing prettier than that phone. |

All good man
As no matter how you try slice it the benchmarks are showing a CPU that is aggresively throttling performance. Do you not find it strange that the Z3+ despite using the Snapdragon 810 is getting worse results than the Htc M9 (with same CPU), a phone that is said to throttle even during little tasks. I remember seeing a similar reaction when the M9 results came out "benchmarks don't mean anything etc..." then the phone arrived and its performance reflected the very poor results it got in benchmarks.
The fact that the M9 with the same CPU and Nexus 6 with older CPU get better results is worrying, and its not just one benchmark, it is multiple.
What I do find interesting is you further ignore the fact that the phone reached a temp of 40°c, which is quite high.
Anyway, the Xperia Z3+ to me was just another example of the Snapdragon 810's failure, all I was waiting to see was if Sony threw in the updated version that people were talking about in the Rumours thread, seems not. Ah well. Roll-on IFA.
