I think i'm with you XperiaJUNKIE!!!
now.. how am i gonna sell my XZ...
Android Authority says XZs is going for $700 in april. Which mean XZP is going to be in the $800 range.. hot damn. that's gonna hurt the wall even with selling my XZ! i may have to wait a few months for the price to drop... that makes me sad. We shall see how my finances work out..
BTW for those who don't know yet... the super slow motion is captured at 720p resolution, not full 1080p resolution. This is a bit of a shame, but I'm guessing it is a limitation of the memory that is stacked on the sensor. Would have been amazing if it could do the super slowmotion at 4K resolution so you could view it on your 4K screen... now that would be WOW

Wow I'm actually impressed. At last Sony did not blow it
It looks like a really good phone. If only the bezels were smaller it would have no competition. OIS wouldn't hurt as well . |

i'm kind of surprised no one has really complained about the 4GB RAM since other phones are offering 6GB variants.

Calling himself as audiophile but keep relying on such a tiny DAC/AMP in smartphone.
Shame, can't be that so serious. Hopefully your 24bit music shall not pirated one.

@moogoo
720p for the 1st generation is not so bad IMHO, maybe limited with processing power.
Snapdragon 835 isn't jump that big leap compare to Snapdragon 820/821.
XZs is really temp to me, XZ Premium is great but bit too large to my liking
but I have to strict on my routine at least two years per one device change
then will make consideration again in late of 2018 and it definitely will
have same suffer with next gen camera sensor in 2019 device,

@moogoo all phones that I've seen with 6gb of ram don't really have much else to show for it. A prime example is the Oneplus 3T, it's actually a very boring phone and it's only stand out feature is the 6gb of ram. The XZ Premium however has a lot more going for it than just that and for me the XZ Premium is currently setting a new benchmark in terms of software meets hardware performance within Android.
I'm so happy 'cause today I've found my friends ... They're in my head

@HXH - yea. i'm not complaining. I'm just informing and doing a little wishing I just got the XZ not too long ago so I am in a bit of a predicament as well. I think the XZP is really nice though and if i can get a good price for my XZ, I'll probably get it once the price drops. I don't think I want to pay a full $800USD price tag for it though (that's my guess on price, nothing official).
@XperiaJunkie - definitely not complaining about the 4GB of ram. I think more would be great but Sony can do a lot more with 4GB than others can do with 6GB. So, that's not the real problem. I think Sony should boost the specs a bit just to blow everyone out of the water since most people look at pure numbers rather than actual performance. Especially all those review sites that tend to be biased against Sony.

Hmm wonder if the new XZs and XZ premium will have manual controls for the camera. Anyone know? |

ascariss - based on hands on videos, looks to be the similar manual controls as on the XZ.

gitaroo - not 100% sure but I would imagine the 4K HDR works like the x-reality engine where it gets turned on for images and videos. That being said, an HDR photo is somewhat unrelated to how it is displayed later. But, to answer your question, my opinion is yes.
Has anyone seen any videos with more information about the slo mo feature? from what i've seen, you can only record about 1 second of real time at 960fps. I'm wondering if you can record longer clips at lower frame rates? I'm not sure how slow mo is implemented on other phones from apple/samsung. Can they record entire videos in slowmo (e.g., a 2 minute video in slow mo?).

4GB RAM doing just fine in my S7 Edge, I never run out of RAM no matter how hard I push it, so I see no problems with the XZ Premium coming with 4GB RAM at all, as long as it's not 3GB RAM.
The Pixel has 4GB RAM, same with LG G6 and most other 2016/2017 Flagships, so it should be fine.
My concern was SoC and Sony delivered abundantly, great move by them. |

I think I found something ridiculous here...
When you can't deal with fact you start insult other people instead?
Well all of my 24bit file has been purchased from HDtrack.

yeah, if I have to choose more ram vs latest SoC, I rather have newest SoC. Sony android phones are generally very lean. |
