All you need for playing DivX movies is:

DivX 5.2.1 http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
VLC http://www.videolan.org/

Also, Toast 7 comes with DivX 6 for Mac. You may also find the following useful:

http://www.3ivx.com/divxdoctor/
http://www.3ivx.com/download/macos.html

Internal Bluetooth for PowerBooks can't be fitted after purchase AFAIK, so you'd just need to get a USB Bluetooth dongle. I can recommend the following as I have one:

Sitecom Bluetooth USB Adapter CN-500

This one is also able to use the Apple Bluetooth Firmware updates as it is identical to Apple's built-in Bluetooth modules.

Or the officially supported by Apple one is the D-Link DBT-120 (I also have one of these, but functionally its no different to the Sitecom).

Unfortunately you'd need the DVDs/CDs to do this. You could start-up the Mac from an external hard disk with Mac OS X on and format the drive, but you'd need the original OS Install CDs to put the operating system back on.

Can you borrow an install CD/DVD from someone local?

Quick question for you Jools, is there any way to, or any third party software that will allow a mac to VPN with a windows machine?

A Customer of ours has been asking us about it for ages, if it's not possible to VPN is there anything like realVNC that is available in both PC and MAC formats?

There's a VPN client built-in to the Mac OS. Check here:

Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Connecting to a Virtual Private Network

I've no experience of VPNs, but from what I've read it should be relatively painless!

Yeah, we tried that but we couldn't get it to talk to the Windows 2003 machine at the other end or vice-versa. After trying all of the obvious stuff (protocol settings, firewalls etc.) we still couldn't get it going and so kind of gave up

Thanks for the link, though. At least I know now that it is indeed possible, it's got to be something we're doing wrong and not just an incompatibility problem
