This could explain something:
According to Doomlord at xda there 'will be atleast 5 devices (operator/region variants included) based on the D65xx (Shinano board)...' Well Shinano is the common platform for Sirius (D65XX), Castor and Canopus, so considering the different variants that's a reasonable assumption. |

Don't the rumours suggest that Sony are selling the Vaio division to a Japanese investment firm, while keep a stake?
Cause if that's true, they could still make Vaios, but just have the costs (which is the thing that's killing them) offset. |

yeah, no company can do the VIAO line justice, all just focus on cramming in all the hardware into a box and call it finish. Anyone seen this before?

Got to hold briefly the new D650x prototype
Its the same width (but with bigger screen) a bit longer (ca 2mm) and bit thinner. Bit lighter (ca 163g?). Otherwise it looks almost the same as Z1 with less bezel
Has stereo sound (seems like speakers on top/bottom) and a LOT nicer sound than Z1 and one hifi option - Hi-Res Audio via USB - you can connect phone to DAC
Android on proto is 4.4.2 and sony SW 17.x (Z1 is 14.x)
Sony SW had some nice new features:
Quick settings are now hidden at first (only notifications) and you can choose either quick settings or notifications.
When you hold the wifi on/off button in quick settings you get the wifi settings - I was waiting for this shortcut
Motion: you can answer the phone by lifting the phone (ala touchwiz) or silence th ringer if you turn it upside down (ala htc)
Smart backlight - keeps screen on when you looking it
Status bar icons are choosable (battery gsp wifi alarm etc)
You can choose between home pages Xperia (normal) or easy - with some big icons (this is kitkat function probably?)
Has the glove mode as Z1 compact and the same tap to wake up as on Z tablet
Camera seems the be same, but it has 4K video recording

Nice! What did you think about the screen quality? Do you think it will be announced at MWC? |

Any ideas if they're going to change the design language after the Sirius? One that is a bit more ergonomic. Same build quality, just a little curvier to fit in the hand better.
Also, have they dialled down the bloody image processing. Its too much. Also, will they add some form of OIS (which will help with low-light imaging)? They really should. They have by far, the best sensor (even if I think its got too many megapixels), but they always f**k it up with too much processing and noise reduction, which murders any and all detail in a photo.
Also, if they're working on a new sensor (with OIS, hopefully), I'd like to hear about that too.
But most important, future updates, reduce the ridiculous heavy handed processing, and OIS in future flagships. I'm pretty much guaranteed to be sticking with the Z(x) Compact line forever. Things like OIS and less aggressive imaging software will only sweeten the deal.

I'll be very sad if Sony sell their VAIO division. My first VAIO was VAIO FX (laptop) that I bought in the year 2000. That laptop still running until today (several years ago, I've changed the battery). From that good experience with VAIO, I've never looked at other brand for desktop and laptop. This is the list of all my Vaios till today.
Vaio FX (year 2000)
Vaio PCV-RX550 (desktop - year 2004)
Vaio S series (laptop- year 2006)
Vaio M1 (all in one with fold-able keyboard with TV tuner - year 2007)
Vaio LA1 (all in one, this is the most beautiful PC ever - year 2009)
Vaio S series (laptop- year 2010)
Vaio P series (pocket laptop)
Vaio L (all in one with 3D display and touchscreen - year 2011)
Vaio Duo 11 (hybrid - year 2012)
Vaio Tap 11 (hybrid - year 2013)
But I agree that Sony has to reduce their VAIO price.
