K850i
clearing up the queries first:
1. QVGA 30fps video recording, confirmed
2. the camera lens protector is actually BEHIND the piece of glass (a surface you can wipe with your cloth), so you won't be wiping dust directly onto the lens
keypad: the alphanumeric keys work fine, it's easier to type than the N73 or 6300. feels similar to the one on T650. the d-pad is a bit clumsy, but once you get used to the position, it's actually faster than using the joy stick, especially when texting.
the 3 soft keys are NOT backlighted, they are a bit tough to press on (similar to W850's d-pad, if you find that ok, then the k850 is ok as well.
new media screen: here's to compete with Nokia really, expect a PSP/PS3-esque browsing experience, no problem at all
music player: it's not walkman, so no megabass, minus the full screen visualizations, it's really really close to the w960, so if you don't need megabass, the k850 works just as well as a music device (yes, flight mode, of course)
camera: frame refresh rate, focus speed are all comparable to the k800i, i.e. great. a full 5MP pic takes 2-3 seconds to save, which is pretty alright for a phone. we didnt test the pic quality since it is a proto, it is unfair to do that. you can check other sites for that.
accelrometer, yes, this is especially useful for viewing pictures, if you tilt the phone, the menu (PSP esque cross menu) will also tilt. very handy

If it had wifi i would defintiely get this
Same with me, think it needs something extra like this make it stand out a bit. Nice phone with a few extra on the K800, but only a few - not much improvement to show for 18 mths extra development time.
If the rumours are true, by the time it comes out it's main competitor could be the N82. I was really hoping SE would be releasing something to compete with this phone as I’m sure they would have done a great job if they had decided to. As it is they’ve only done a mediocre job, not to bad, just not to good.

Very interesting what you said about the music player If the main diffenrece is in the megabass and is near W960 ... very good quality of sound for a CiberShot branded mobile !!! |

What a great looking phone!
If this is for October release I bet Samsung and LG will be able to knock one out before then but I doubt it will be as good as this.
The only thing I really hate about it is, I wasn't thinking of buying this but now that I have seen it its just begging me to buy one.
Video blogging? Is there a limit to the length of videos you can blog?
PS. I think the blue version is reeaaaly nice.
Well technically if you were blogging to youtube it would be the normal limit, 10 mins or 130 mb or whatever it is. |

Okay I missed asking this before in all the excitement but doesn't this phone have a non-3G counterpart with a single camera? Like K800 had the K790.

Wow!
I certainly know what my next phone will be. Much better than I expected.
Photo integration is very good - photo lights, smart dedicated camera switch (next to shutter button), function slider, and LEDs for videos. Take that N95.
And SE didn't skimp on the music Comparable to v3.0, and better than v2.0.
Then there's the nice large screen, relatively slim design, innovative controls, and accelerometer. But my only complaint is the weird softkeys.
@xumdeo
Are the softkeys really that hard to use? Are they literally tiny, tiny buttons or touch sensitive keys?
EDIT: And does the Sofia.. no K850 , have support for flash themes?
