Well, zoom and night vision would be welcome additions.
As a Sony camera user I know that they have
zoom and nightvision ( just a filter algorythm
to bring out more detail at night ) software functionality
which could be added to the phone.
I would however hope that the SE boys had been listening
to this and other forums and were looking to include
an integrated task manager/file manager, exit commands
for the basic apps, proper contacts management etc.
Roll on Wednesday / Thursday we everybody else
gets their phone and can update us on firmware etc.
to see if we need to make use of the Orange 14 day
money back guaruntee - just as well I havn't tried
to remove the Orange logos yet. |

Video recording is something that can be added through software.
Night mode requires an I/R camera, and an I/R emitter.
I doubt very much that we'll see such a thing on a phone any time soon.

Well, I know for sure video will be available soon... maybe after CeBit.. but I highly doubt can make that deadline. I'm guessing April or May.
With regards to nightvision... most CCDs can see the IR band... that's the beauty of CCDs... all you need is a proper SW controller... don't believe me? Those of you who have netcams... set them to maximum gain and the slowest shutter speed... then point a TV remote at them...you should see a green light coming out of your TV remote
The 7650 exploits this with it's 'Night Mode' ... the P800 has this ability as well... they just need to add the proper controls in the Communicam app. |

Hi Mr Hamilton,
W have a very limited number of P800 in stock tomorrow of which you are to be allocated one, the order will go on a next day but it will depend on when they arrive from the freight forwarders as to weather we can despatch tomorrow. If we are unable to then it will go Wednesday on a next day delivery to Northern Ireland.
The Uk P800 is slightly different stock, you are correct in saying that the camera id different, it will have a Zoom function and will have a night vision function as well, the memory is the same as the specified spec.

1. I'm sure he wouldn't start with 'Hi'
2. Doesn't say 'Thanks for contacting...'
3. 'Weather' spelt wrong
4. No contact details at the bottom

I just got back from getting my import P800 upgraded from an SE service centre in Addlestone and I was the first they had done so they downloaded the firmware from the SE servers and I got...
Out of curiosity, is it just a case of wondering in to your
local service centre and saying please update me?
Does it cost much/anything ?

It was going to cost me to update in Frankfurt (where I work Monday to Friday) unless I could show a problem that required the upgrade, but this SE centre happily updated me no questions and no payment. Very friendly in fact!

I have just taken a photo of a P800 using a sony camera in Nightshot mode. If I were brighter I would post the picture.
What you end up with is a green-scale picture, green on black
but with lots of contrast i.e. lots of shades of green
so a clear picture which just appears to have been washed
in one colour. |

Yeah!LG UC35 usb pc camera has also a night pictures ability! It uses green filter but the pictures are much better with that function on at night. I use it for my cars security. I think that P800 can have this ability too-IMO its software dependant. Regards! Peter

Look you twat, on My-Symbian.com it has all been established that even if the data isn't correct, which in all likelyhood it isn't it isn't my fault.
It IS the nice manager of EShop, I provided full contents of both mine and Marsh's email correspondance with all the details below I decided to leave out. He's only human and email is a fairly informal way of communication, you must be fairly new to the internet if you haven't caught on to this fact yet.
And why would he not say "Hi"? We are 2 adults and conversing by email.. when you go into a shop does the manager get down on one knee and speak to you? WTF are you on about??!
And as for number 2. of your "managerial contact rules" it was my third email to him in a week.
See http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3249&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30 for the stuff On My-Symbion I refered to.
I hope you aren't representative of the users on Esato you know-nothing smartarse.
