I hope we arnt in for another P990 fiasco in terms of software bugginess.

Hopefully the P1 will be stable so this should also be.

Just as the quantum and others now.

8 pages ago I would've thought the SAME thing But another informed me different.

There is more to digital cameras's than just zoom, Red Eye Reduction, FLash etc of the basics. The quality is STILL superb for distance and close ups. You can see the difference when actually PRINTING! Sony's digital camera business has nothing to worry about. Sales of digital cameras are STILL very high, and will remain so because they're they BEST QUALITY alternative to cellulose film bases cameras. They also allow for quality lenses regardless of the Carl Zeiss brand used on Nokia phones its not the same ENTIRE technology that goes into an SLR or $300-400 point & click - est 7-10mp on the market today.

OMG I was just saying this.. They have the technology to make camera phones 10x better than now, but they won't exactly because they "still sell their dig cams good.." IF they do what they can in the phones, this "still" will not exist.. U should have a brain to think about this.. U tell me current things-results from a policity.. It's much more complicated than u, believe me

P.s Will some of the potentional w960' buyers use the phone as a camera? Will it be the main feature, that u seek for in this kind of phone? Or maybe u wanna lens cover as other forumer here..

Stop with these theories on how if it doesnt have a lens cover its a rubbish camera. The 903 doesnt and thats one of the best camera phones around.

Had a bit of a play with the phone last night. I can only be fairly vague since I am using an early prototype and things might change. Probably won't add much to what you have seen in previews.

It's a similar size to the P1, probably a little thinner. It's bigger than the W950, but feels smaller due to the rounded edges of the case. The screen being flush with front is really nice. Keypad is better than the W950 (which isn't difficult). It's a bit of a fingerprint magnet on the front. The back is a similar rubberised feel to the P1.

New walkman player is really nice. Larger album art and a better layout when navigating. I transferred the 50 odd albums I had on my W950 over to the W960 to give it a decent workout. The current track display on the main screen is cool too, gives it a proper walkman feel. Only disadvantage is if you have dubious taste in music and you are advertising to everyone (it can be turned off).

Sound quality IMO is better than the W950. I tried the internal speaker, which sounds better than the W950 (less tinny). With MegaBass turned off it sounds fairly decent. I also tried it with my wireless bluetooth headphones and again, I found the sound quality improved over the W950.

There's no shake control (I give the phone a good shake to test!). I very much doubt that there will be, as the phone is closely related to the P1. Still, it may turn up in a later prototype.

Camera seemed to work well, but then it's likely to be taken from the P1 and that is pretty solid now. Managed to take photos while listening to music.

The Back button being on the front will take some getting used to!

Look at the top of the page, it says what features the W960 has and shake control isn't listed.

The bottom of the page seems to be just features you see in Walkman Phones. I think it is a bit misleading.

I've read somewhere that the shake control can be turned ON/OFF. Could be a reason for why it didnt work with you. It wouldnt make sense to have it ON all the time without the ability to turn it off. Imagine jogging with the phone.

I'm sure it is an option in phones that support it. No such options on my W960. Maybe it will appear on a later version of the hardware, but I still don't think the W960 will have the shake control.

The numerical keys seem to be quite small (in terms of height, not width), did you notice any problem typing on the keypad ?

Are the keys slightly in relief to avoid mistypes (like the K750i keypad which isn't totally flat) ? It's hard to tell from the pictures, even this close.

Thanks !
