dude just because your unit is working ok does not mean all the others are fine (remember the k750 ?)
so please next time try to be a bit more considerate, I mentioned in my post that it could be some batches that are faulty I didn't accuse you of lying just because you're saying that your phone is not crashing.

@jah
I tend to shut them down too, as it does not take too long for them to reopen as with the TyTN.
By the way, i tried a master reset after using it for a while, and noticed a marked improvement in the start up time of the browser..same as M600i. I feel the OS system here is more polished and better 'tied' together here than in my M600i..

From what ive read many problems are caused by lack of memory, for most if your using it normally this isnt a proble, youll be just under the limit but under none the less. But for some they can have an app installed which pushes it over.
Push email like intellisync or onebridge are major memory hogs. Handy day or anythying else which runs on startup can eat up the valuable ram.
I decided against the 990 in the end, delays and memory trouble were the main reasons, oh and cost.
It could also be that some people turn off their phone each night, others leave them on for months (ok, its new so maybe weeks or days). So many things affect the stability of a phone.
Firmware version and as has been said it could just be a dodgey batch. |

the opposite is also true...i´ve been reading opinions from user here, at mobile-review and my-symbian and the majority are satisfied with the P990 even with current firmware...
also i´m sure the next firmware will adress the problems people have with Opera - you just have to read what virgile from Planete SE says

He says he´s using a newer yet to be released firmware, and that with it he´s able to run the RAM hungry Opera and listen to music at the same time, something that people can´t do right now

like i said before, the more violent critics made to the P990 are made by people that...don´t own it

I honestly do believe that by the time it gets released by UK networks the P990 will be very stable and reliable much like my memories of the P910. Everyone that has one now are kind of beta testers in my opinion. Quite funny that even SE are saying its not been released properly in the UK yet. I think all the places you guys have got them from are like the first lot off the retail production line that were maybe for network providers to test as a retail package or something.
But I definately do think this phone will be quite something. And even now after reading previous posts I am still looking forward to the day when I recieve mine

I'm sorry, but I remember vividly the first days of the P910 and all the posts with initial problems and also the multitude of threads complaining about how little difference there was between P900 and P910 etc etc etc
Things are not really that different now IMVHO

I don't understand why everyone is saying that the phone is full of bugs. I have had mine since tuesday morning and i haven't so far (touch wood) had it crash. In face it's been quite the opposite. Everything runs fast and using wifi in my house to surf the web is easy to use and fast. There may be many people complaining but i for one am very impressed with this phone and seeing as it was free on my contract i'm a very happy person!!!

re: volume of music playback on the P990
May have found one reason for the difference in views. Just added some more music to my P990 2GB Duo Pro and noticed the volume was less than my other music. The first batch of music was mostly from my old P910/Nokia 9500 and was encoded using db PowerAmp while the newer music was ripped from CDs using Windows Media Player with a MP3 plug-in - not sure why there should be such a difference but I'm going back to db PowerAmp!
