I have a small question on technicality. My HelloOx2 is installed on my C: drive (by default). So when I follow the same steps, i.e take out the memory card, etc. I am assuming that its ok to have HelloOx2 installed on C drive or should it be installed on the memory card? Thanks
I have HelloOX on C: drive and did update. No problemo, mate. |

just wondering why you need the satio hacked, which programs of benefit would this enable me to use? |

I can't be sure as of now but as I noticed no performance improvements! So what tweaks were really made?!
And the major thing of course: Bugs still there!
I think that's the most we could take from the Satio.. No more improvements whatsoever!
That's what SE for some reason decided. What could we say!
Had the Symbian OS not been set for fully open source releases as of the coming Symbian^3, I'd never own an SE handset again! Good for them, an open source OS would make up for those SE failures at debugging their softwares and keeping in touch with custormers by offering a decent support and keeping their products up to date!
Still though, after owning SE handsets for my whole life till now, I'll still think 100 times before getting a new SE device!

I did not see much improvements, at times the menu loading seem slower. The upgrade of video taking to wvga only meant they can DO 720 as the smaller Vivaz. Bad move, i am sure owners like us will demand for more....
this release is SE's first effort to improve the phone, we still don't know whether they will continue to support the phone and not did what they have done before:throwing a K810 after the successful K800.
The Satio has all the technical protential to upgrade to ^3 OS but, if they stick to the product cycle thing, by the time the OS is out, it would be some 9 months after Satio initial release, as they want people to buy a new phone instead of getting an upgrade...
IF that is to be the case, we will have half a smartphone that worth very little on our hands... If they do that, most Satios would be thrown away for anything SE's rivals throw out with a similar spec....
I hope SE is smart to fulfill their support base with new (optional) ^3 OS uopgrade or continue to leave it as it is for Satio owners.
At this moment we are not happy with what we got, so when we show off our phone, and asked if it is recommended, we will tell them, buy something else, it is not worth the trouble....
This firmware seem more like a release prepared last year waited on the pipeline to be release than something they have worked on along with development of Vivaz.
Wish us luck gets us more improvements for our Satio. |

WIth out it hacked, Satio is a smartphone in name only.
User will not be able to use simply apps like Live messenger where Nokia users took for granted.
We be stuck with SE's sub standard facebook app, there wont' be chances to use Nokia maps, so on and so forth.
with symbian source code open sourced, hacking should now be much easier and developments contributed by these so called phone hackers should help SE's own engineers work on improvements (not restrictions)
according to the symbian's own press, they are moving to a open source model, where a common app store will be put online, they are trying to use the iphone / android business model. If that happens, Satio and its cousins should be able to use Nokia / Samsung apps on their phone, which is the exact purpose of the hack. |

I dont think that Satio will get the Symbian OS upgrade as Symbian never get an OS upgrade just firmware release. I myself hoping for that too haha that would be nice to have it upgrade to 3rd version |

Use it and the file you linked to will be the file from step 3 in the tutorial. You use the tutorial and SEUS will downgrade your phone to R1CA037. You will then be able to install all your apps HelloOX2 etc. After doing so you will use the tutorial again but with files from the tutorial. You will change back to your original region and have R2AK006 + HelloOX2.
(This is for the people who used the full update and lost their hacked apps after the update)

Quite easy. Just use the phones backup tool. Go to the main menu/Orginizer/file manager/backup. Select which item(s) you want to backup. Select Options and then Backup.

you must save the folder Mail2
you find it in private\\1000484b
if you've set internal memory to save sms search the folder in C, if you've set memory E to save sms, search the folder in E.
then save it |
