Is it possible that Sony would change the logos of the 2011 xperia to Sony instead of Sony ericsson. I'm thinking of buying the Arc S and I think it would be nicer if it will have a sony logo which would not make the phone look outdated.
Not very likely but in the latest Resident Evil Trailer there is an Xperia Arc S with SONY logo

That logo is too big!
About the rumored release date. The Ericsson deal will probably be approved the last of january. They are not allowed to sell any phone under the Sony brand before that but maybe they will celebrate the takeover with an instant release ?

So we`ll have visualy identical Sony devices...? Nypon and Kumquat look exactly the same as Xperia S. Is that the way Sony make recognizable design?
Here some benchmarks for Nypon and Pepper.
I`m quite impressed with these results for "outdated" ST-Ericsson hardware as Pepper scores the same as Moto RAZR.

Also if Sony was ready to release Xperia S within January they probably didn`t shown prototype devices at CES. I don`t believe this January date, cause everyone reporting this based on Play.com in stock date. These sites often change it`s dates... remember last year? |

It can't be the real release date, it must be a placeholder ... |

I don't know if someone already posted this or not...
It seems ST25i Kumquat will be called "Xperia U" according to this site :

It's an Indonesian site where all mobile phones are tested before they're released in the market... |

Kinda like kumquat. The xperia s and ion are a bit on the large side(they larger than the arc which is a big-ass phone!). Think Nypon will be perfect size |

Superb for us in the north. I don't know about the UK but sweden does suffer from 'bad' GPS reception. The Americans never cared about us, i guess they never saw us as a threat

Good, but you have to concider that resolution difference.
Of course, I just point to the fact that this is still work in progress.
I`m so excited about ST-Ericsson SoC in Sony devices, because I really want to see how power efficient it is compared to others. I'm not into power race in processors as I`m satisfied with current single-core Qualcomm chip in terms of speed... I just need better optimisation, better GPU and better power efficiency. Dual-core is a bonus of course and a must, but no more than dual-core for now. |

i just wish Sony/ would package their phones this year in a very creative way. packaging means something for someone, you know.

It's a waste of resources. Plus, they're trying to be "green".
I did like those boxes, though...
