MS Duo corruption problem with R1N035 |

I struggled to find much help on this topic (maybe my search skills aren't up to scratch) but for those who don't know, some K750i's (maybe W800i's too) who update their firmware to R1N035 will experience problems when copying files to their memory sticks. As I bought a 1GB card about a week ago I wasn't too happy about this, and emailing SE got me some lame "try a different memory stick" answer. So basically the only solution I've found is to use a card reader instead of the USB cable, which seems to be working for me so far (fingers crossed).
Anyone else got anything to add on the topic? Do W800i's experience this problem with R1N035, and if not would switching from the K750i firmware to the W800i firmware via Da Vinci help? |

Well yes... it affect W800 also. I consider this bug to render to useless level my phone, sadly. And no fix is available yet.
I also bought a card reader... and as I lucky guy I'm, the MS slot doesn't work... so I have to take it back to RMA... nice, uh? I bought my W800 a month ago and I couldn't even start using it, with all the configuration and now this problema

hmmm, bummer. Have you tried a master reset after flashing - or reflashing? Was the card in the phone when you flashed it? When I flashed my K750 from R1J to R1L my card became corrupted. Once I formatted the card it was okay.
I found this in the K750/W800 firmware thread:
"- BUG: Some phones experience MS Duo corruption after a firmware update. Symptoms include erratic behaviour of the Media Player and problems with the file system. This can be fixed by formatting the memory stick in the phone and then performing a Master Reset / Reset All. Note that this will erase all settings - perform a full backup beforehand. "

After reading all these threads about firmware upgrading, is it just me or you're just trading one set of problem for another? |

Have the same problem. SanDisk 1GB stick in a k750i, R1N035 EU2 firmware (recently updated via SEUS). The stick was dead once and worked again after one switch off/on. Two weeks later, after storing a photo, the stick was dead again - 0Byte data, 0Byte free space, no volume on the stick, but drive letter given to USB link. Rescue Pro trial could not access the stick, in a MMC slot at a notebook it was not accessable either. Suddenly, it worked again in the phone, all data on the stick (about 6MB photos) could be retrieved (thanks god, good pics not yet saved). The I downloaded about 500MB mp3's on the phone, no errors while copying, file list in the USB drive seemed OK, but in the phone only about 50MB existed. The last MP3 file in the list is a mixture of several songs downloaded after it, clearly messed up.
I'll try the master format/reset procedure and hope for an update, at this stage it is really a mess. |

I keep saying the same.... Faulty fone in some way or other...
Why try to fix it? Get the lot swaped by working products... If this is not possible then formating the card on the phone, reflashing it with card out and then try copy stuff to it...
Like a few users here swear by master resets and f/w updates thatv may just work as apermanent fix or not...
Me If I have something I deem faulty or unable to perform as per design then I exchange under current UK/EU customer policy

if anyone has any luck with the master reset/format thing let us know - formatting my 1GB stick didn't help and am reluctant to do a master reset 'just incase'! |

master reset is no big deal....a little of a pain but I think there is a good chance it will help therefore worth trying.
write down your gprs settings (internet profile and data settings used by the internet profile, and mms data settings), copy all stuff off the phone memory (myphoneexplorer is ideal for this including files, contacts messages etc) and give it a go... |

I have tried formatting and master reset before and after updating the firmware, and it doesn't make a difference. I have given up. I'm awaiting a new firmware version before trying again.
Moving a few files at a time seems to be okay, but trying to fill the entire 512 MB card at once almost certainly will fail.
I guess I can send the phone off to a service center to fix it, but then I will be without a phone while it's away, and that's not an option.

@fantonald
what is the most number of songs that you were able to transfer at one time with no problem? |

34 files, 48 folders, 120 MB right after card was formatted (trying to move 400 MB). Then up to 13 files, 23 folders, 68.6 MB after that. If I try to move too many files after the first try I end up with moving only 3-4 files or none.

That is quite a lot. I tried to move 1 folder with 50 songs about 100MB and only a few were transfered. In what folder did you save it to? MP3 or audio folder? I tired both and same problem. |
