Sony Ericsson released the low-mid end candybar models K510 and the K310 today. No official press release yet, that I can find.

K510
Sony Ericsson’s K510 1.3 Megapixel camera phone is the perfect partner to ‘Capture and Share’

London, 28th Feb 2006 – Sony Ericsson today announces the K510, an elegant and modern 1.3 Megapixel camera phone with Bluetooth push email and fun imaging effects. Available in Midnight Black or Polished Purple with optional Bluetooth headset HBH-PV705 in matching colours, this modern design handset speaks quality. This small compact 1.3 Megapixel phone from Sony Ericsson is the perfect pocket sized tool for the ‘capture and share’ lifestyle.

“Capturing good quality shots and - best of all - sharing them with friends and family is a satisfying experience with this phone,” says Jan Wäreby, Corporate Executive Vice President, Head of Sales and Marketing of Sony Ericsson. “The picture quality is excellent and you have a variety of choices about how you share them - email, Bluetooth, MMS or IrDA, whatever’s most convenient. The neat effects package means you can also have a lot of fun with your pictures before you share them.”

The K510 allows high quality pictures to be captured, stored and shared in just a few clicks. The high resolution 1.3 Megapixel camera has a shutter button, 4x digital zoom and optional true camera flash – the Phone Flash MXE-60 – that does away with red-eye and delivers great shots after dark. With 262k colors TFT display it is easy to sort high quality pictures through thumbnails of stored pictures by date. Before sharing, pictures can be made more captivating with simple effects such as face warp, sepia colourising and panorama views.

An external antenna connector, Bluetooth support, USB cable in the box, support for industry-standard push email, excellent talk and standby times and a sophisticated yet simple design make the K510 a productive partner for the mobile office. New PC synchronisation software keeps the user right up to date with the full suite of Outlook applications, including Calendar, Contacts, Notes and Tasks.

Accessories include the brand new Bluetooth headset HBH-PV705 in matching colours, the HCA-60 car holder and the MXE-60 flash.

The Sony Ericsson K510 is a Triple Band GPRS handset and starts shipping globally during Q2 2006.

K310
Take quick shots and store them in your pocket picture album with Sony Ericsson’s K310

London, 28th Feb 2006 – The K310 camera phone announced today from Sony Ericsson will appeal to anyone that wants to take quick snaps on the go and keep their pocket picture album always to hand. This well designed yet affordable handset integrates a phone and camera with practical tools for viewing, storing and sharing images. Added features, uncommon at this price point, include high quality display and imaging effects.

Viewing pictures with friends and family is a high quality experience thanks to the 65K Ultra Bright Colour (UBC) display, a new screen technology that produces a crisp, clear image. It is easy to browse through thumbnails of pictures stored on the phone for instant viewing or sharing by MMS or IrDA. Before sharing shots, fun imaging effects, such as ‘face warp’ can be added for extra interest and humour.

Useful business applications are provided by PC synchronisation, standard push e-mail and mobile Internet browsing. The integrated speaker phone also allows calls with multiple participants to be well handled and clearly audible.

A host of MP3 ring tones, 3D games and a media player with MP3 support make the K310 an entertaining partner when travelling, in the gym or walking.

The Sony Ericsson K310 is a Triple Band GPRS handset commercially available in Misty Silver and Shadow Blue colours and starts shipping globally during Q2 2006.

yup...now the vga will soon be phased out in couple of years and 1.3 and 2mpx cams will be the norm among all low end camera phones.

GOD,WHY THE HELL DID THESE COMPANIES RELEASE THOSE POOR PHOTO QUALITY CAM PHONES WHEN MPX CAM TECHNOLOGY WAS ALREADY AVAILABLE(was it the price factor?)??AND WHY THE HELL DID WE BUY THEM??

Only 128*160 on the K510 is really a shame. I would've really loved it if it had a 176*220 screen. And at least a bit more memory if there's not going to be a memory slot. Even the inferior Z530 got one! Like the other specs though.

I see what you're getting at. its the rounded corners that gave that impression

but I think its hard with so many phones out there for new ones to be totally unique in their look

These are really nice specs for a low-end SE phone. I hope they have large enough memory.
resistance is futile.
