Sony today announced the launch of the 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, doubling the available recording space on the compact Memory Stick media.
True to its multimedia credentials, the Memory Stick can store a large range of entertainment files, including more than 19 hours of MPEG-4 video for playback on a PSP (recorded at 768kbps), approximately 3000 digital photos with 10 Megapixel resolution (in Standard mode setting) or up to 2000 MP3 songs with an average length of 4 minutes (recorded at 128kbps).
Robust and capable of operating in extreme working conditions, the product includes a 5 year warranty for peace of mind. In addition, free file rescue software can be downloaded from www.sonydigital-link.com/memstick/ enabling quick recovery of photographs and other files which may have been lost or deleted. All Memory Stick PRO Duo media come complete with a standard size Memory Stick adaptor. Customers can refer to www.sonydigital-link.com/memstick/ for the latest compatibility information.
The 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (MSX-M8GS) will be available from the beginning of February 2007.

Nice, so that means in about 2 hours time the market will be flooded with fake 8gb cards, vastly improving the chances of getting a genuine 4gb card.

The price hasn't really been announced as sales start in feb,hopefully it wont be more than $200-250 as the 4gb pro duo ranges between $100-150.

I just looked at my 2GB memory stick pro duo. the card is formatted in FAT16. so the maximum size is 2GB.
if the card can be formatted in FAT32 instead of FAT16 and the phone supports it. then there is no 2GB limit problem.
if the phone can only support FAT16 formatted cards. That means there will be no benefit in buying a larger card than 2GB as the phone will not be able to use it anyway.
So..Has anyone tried and know if K750i/W800i phones work with memory cards formatted with FAT32? ie, has anyone try to format their card in FAT32 format?

well, a k750 supports a 4gb mspd. i donno its format, but 4gb works well on a k750. i hope this works fine as well.

I don't know about the PSP, but it should work on the P990, read the specs at the back of the manual. The P990 supports up to 8gb duo pros |
