here is how to set it up on M600/W950/P990
ok, first ensure that your gmail account has pop access enabled. just go into settings of your gmail account
on the m600:
go into messaging
click more, settings, email accounts
cilck more, new account and give the account a name, enter your name, your gmail address (in full e.g. xxx@gmail.com) and choose pop3 for connection type
click the inbox tab
set incoming server address as pop.gmail.com
enter your username (again like xxx@gmail.com)
enter your password
specify the download settings you want (headers only or emails smaller than n)
click more, then advanced
on the incoming tab specify secure connection as SSL
on the outgoing tab specify secure connection as SSL
click save
click the outbox tab
specify outgoing server address as smtp.gmail.com
tick "use SMTP authentication"
tick "use inbox login details"
now send and receive emails through gmail successfully using the phone email client!

Gmail works well for me though the m600i email client, however I have notice one thing.
If I send an email to someone from the gmail web client the phone downloads the email to my inbox, quite annoying!
Does anyone know how I can stop this? Gmail help suggests applying a filter, but I can;t see how to do this!
Cheers for any help! |

@Gobeerbuy, thats the gmail server doing that, not the phone. Its the same in the web gmail and the gmail java app where you see the whole conversation, i.e. what has been sent and what has been received
@no14ne1, these are the settings I have used on my P990, W950 and M600 and also on my K800 and TyTN and others
perhaps Hutch is blocking it somehow?

comcast settings appear to be standard pop3/smtp settings so you wouldn't need to use the SSL setting
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.comcast.net
Incoming mail (POP3): mail.comcast.net
or is there something special comcast that didn't comeup when I googled it?

is it possible for the m600 to only read the new emails in my email account cuz every time i check my gmail on it it will display the emails i already checked when i was on the computer. the phone only realize that these emails havent been check on the phone and not somewhere else is there a way to fix this? |

That's an IMAP feature, IIRC.
Another way you can check your gmail is if you forward it to any of the free push email providers (like mail2web.com) and then set it up on your M600/P990.
