Hi,
I thought it was time someone posted a FAQ on how to fix a dead K800i. This is because there are over 100's of threads about dead K800i's.
The fix:
Equipment:
USB Cable (Provided in the box)
Your dead K800i
Computer
USB Ports
...and some software
Instructions:
1. First remove your SIM CARD and Memory Sticks from the phone.
2. Put the battery back in and DO NOT TURN IT ON.
3. Now if you have used your K800i with your PC before then you will not need to install the drivers. If you haven't used it before, then get the PC Suite disc and install the drivers manually by browsing the disc.
EDIT: If that doesn't help please install SEUS from this link http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1&pid=10407&fid=21839&esi=true , Make sure you don''t update your firmware until you have fixed the phone
4. Now you need to click on this link and press download and save it to your desktop. http://www.wotanserver.com/su[....]=viewdownload&downloaditemid=1
5. After it has downloaded then go to your desktop and open the file up.
6. It will start to update, DO NOT CANCEL IT.
7. On the bottom-right hand side corner there will be a login box. Make sure there are blank before you start otherwise it won't work.
8. Once the update has finished. plug the USB into the computer and NOT THE PHONE.
9. Press start in Wotan
10. Press 2 and 5 simulatenously and plug your phone in.
11. Let it finish
Take out the battery for a few minutes and then put it back in
Now you can enjoy your fixed K800i
Suggestion:
NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE
If you are very scared of updating your EROM then you can try shorting the battery connector (NOT THE BATTERY ITSELF) in the phone using a spoon.
It may work or it may not

Hey machanic. You should tell ppl to took batt for longer period (it may be a difference between recognised phone or not). Also how about shorting the batt connector on the phone body as told by drhunter.
Speaking about unrecognised phone. I just plugged my wife Z610 (perfectly working) but neither Kulan, wotan, nor SEUS recognised it, LOL. Have tried took batt for 5mins to no avail. Seems that my computer confused or something. Will try on another computer or even reinstall windoze!
I think ppl need to start to think that it is the PC instead the phone that is the problem. |

EROM ? no, I have no idea which one that was.
I recently modified it to a W800i with R1BC002 as firmware with WOTAN
I then increased the SMS capacity, added a few t9 languages to it and changed the cam-driver and it was working fine.
I tried to apply a patch (radio without headset patch), and that worked but after disconnecting it from the PC it was not turning on anymore.
since then its dead
and the LED in the IR port place does not work ether. |

Well, it looks like you have a bricked phone or dodgy Cable or even a bad computer.
Who knows???
hanugro: Thaks for the suggestion I will add that to the first post later on today |

no the cable is actually fine, because I can connect my K800 to the computer and that works... maybe its something with the computer,
I gave it to a small phone unlocking shop here around the corner, the guy said he will look into it, might take 2 days or so...
lets see |

Is this recommended for a perfectly working K790 just to convert it from R3A011 to R3A016 in order to avoid occurrence of the WSOD issue?
Please advice.
I am now running R1JC002 but the EROM is still R3A011. |

If there is a way to update your EROM, why don't you do it? |

All i wanted to know was whether the Wotan method mentioned in this post works only for dead phones or if it works ok on perfectly fine phones with R1JC002 firmware. |
