File this under "rumor" but It seems like Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, has made some grumblings about HTC being a good fit in a merger between it and Sony Ericsson.

ESATO NEWS

Peter Chou,CEO of HTC, said in an interview that he thinks a merger between HTC and Sony Ericsson would be a good fit.

HTC is a maker of Windows Mobile smartphones that wants to merge with Sony Ericsson now that ones a very hard one to swallow.

The two companies or the two engineering cultures would fit together is another story. Plus, there's Sony Eicsson's love of Symbian, which doesn't quite fit in with HTC's Windows Mobile lust.

Yeah, when I think of HTC, Windows Mobile comes to mind. So it's quite hard to imagine how a merger would turn out. SE loves Symbian, like you've mentioned. And they've only recently acquired UIQ, so it doesn't make sense to abandon it for Windows Mobile. As for hardware, SE seems capable of making them, so I don't see how a merger would help SE. But of course, anything's possible, and I'd be more interested to know why it'll happen.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Surely a Windows Mobile UI would be better for the Mobile Docking Station patented recently?

I'm for an SE buyout of HTC not a merger. Like I said before, HTC would continue with windows mobile under the SE banner while SE also continue with Uiq3. I don't see how a merger would be a good move for SE.

SE is not a cheap company to merge with some underdog. To buy HTC will not bring anything to SE either.
I did not see any HTC phone which attracted my attention. They might be trying hard to move on, but their management sucks.
Does someone have their business charts?

To say more, if this are real thoughts of HTC's CEO, then HTC most likely is in trouble at the moment.

HTC ...and underdog...rrrright?
HTC is bigger than you think, imagine how much more profit they would get by selling uiq/windows smartphones to network providers.

Yes HTC is in trouble because rivals have caught up with htc,o2 are dropping htc products in their xda range and switching to asus instead.
but imagine xda range powered by sony ericsson..could be on to something

Maybe HTC could help SE build phones that don't squeak.

Man this would be lovely

Since I switch to precious HTC P3600 I will welcome this move and yes, my Trinity doesn't squeak but I must say that quality of SE accessories are in their own class

Just because they are merging doesn't mean Sony Ericsson has to change their name. Sony Ericsson can sell HTC phones under the HTC branding.

But I wonder, If Sony Ericsson aquires HTC, then what will Dopod be? under Sony Ericsson or will the shares be sold out to others?
