K800 - Jaggered edges on photos |

I've had my K800 for about 3-4 weeks now and am extremely disappointed in the quality of pictures it takes - when it gets them right. I know there have been other topics on the quality of photos taken by the K800 but I want to focus on how badly the K800 handles diagonal lines and sharp edges in pictures. I swear it is the worst I have seen of any camera. My W800 took far better pictures. Have a look at the crop I have taken from a picture of my car. Look along the panel gap in the bonnet. See how jaggered it is? I find this happens too often with the K800. I can even see evidence of jaggered edges on photos in the reviews on gsmarena and am surprised no one complained about it.
To me it ruins the photo. The jaggered effect is clearly visible even at actual size . To me this is just rubbish. It's almost as if the image is interlaced. Surely others have noticed this? Does anyone know how to explain this? Any idea's on how to minimize this? |

What are your settings? That ca make a difference to the picture.

Any use of the digital zoom will increase these jagged lines, as would zooming and cropping the picture.
Try updating your firmware, not sure what version you're running but the later versions will have a more up to date camera driver which might help.

I've tried Fine and Normal in 3mp and 2mp. I am not using digital Zoom. I am running R1KG001 firmware. Check your own pics, view them at actual size. zoom in a little. Experiment taking pics of objects with sharp edges - you'll see what I mean. It's not just my phone either. Check out http://www.gsmarena.com/n73_d900_k800_photo-review-102.php . Look at the pics of the blue car, the front door frame is jaggered and so is the edge of the far windscreen and the back window. It stands out more in some photo's than others. |
