SE removed the latest firmware from GW1 for some reason, though I think I read the other day that it's back.
Either way, GW1, 2 & 3 are all the same in terms of what you get. You can use XS++ to change CDA if need be.

Ages ago I wrote a little explanation of this here:

Sebby is correct in saying that all three GW releases are normally updated at the same time, if you think of it like a normal computer program in that the maker will release different versions of it for different parts of the world, the CDAs relate to the differently localised versions, which can be updated at different times, the core software version is marked by the 'organiser' version number.
See, not confusing at all
I should also add that a lot of the CDA's are used by individual operators for their own 'branded' versions of the fimware, eg my phone originally had the O2 uk version, which had custom startup/shutdown screens, as well as their internet settings preloaded. The downside is that these often take a very long time to be updated to the latest version of the core software, hence many people switch to a GW CDA so they can get the update as soon as SE release it.

i thought i was smart getting GW1, but i done it too late late and now I have the old FW.
Question.
Will changing GW cause me more hassle than changing FW when it eventaully comes to GW1? Also if i change to GW2 will this likely be outdated in the future? |

Nope, just change the CDA to GW2 to get the latest firmware. In future, GW2 will still get new firmwares at around the same time as the other GWs.
