Right well i got these Technics SB-3410 speakers from a friends mum, they are 100 watts and basically i need to buy and amp for them.

Bit lost on this subject tbh, could anyone recommend an amp? Ideally i would like a used one as they are cheaper, think ebay might be my best bet but im not sure what to look for in an amp.

They look a bit like these:

Cheers guys for the replies, so any amp will work as long as it can power the speakers? so anything higher than 200 watts will be ok?

@themarques what sort of price was you thinking of? Think it might be to good for my budget but i could collect in london

Note dont just buy any old amp, depending on the impedance of those speakers you could blow them. And no this is not a plug for my Amp, but you can select the level of impedance they range from 4 to 8 Ohm

In regards to my receiver make me an offer and if I like it then its yours.

My only concern with Joses' kit is that it's an AV receiver rather than a dedicated amp, it's at home dealing with DTS and Dolby Pro Logic 2, it may note the may, lack raw stereo decoding and amplifying... have you used it as a stereo amp?

@ P900 Lover..... You might want to have a word with Leeboy13, he's wanting to shift his Arcam 9 amp and being a few years old it might be cheap.... it will power your speakers easily....

also.. what are you going to run through the amp and speakers? you needing a CD player etc etc?

@fatreg Its at home dealing with everything to be exact. You have to realise AV receivers have changed drastically over the years and Yamaha's receivers really show this.

If you want to just power two speakers, then PLIIx Music will work perfectly, and if you running compressed files ie MP3 then the Music Enhancer 6 or 2 speaker option will take care of that.

An AV receiver is no different from any amp except for that fact that Video is thrown in.

My main use for these speakers will be to connect my AUX cable to it so i can use my laptop/ipod. In the future i want to add a turn table and mixer to have a simple DJ set up.

Ill message Leeboy and see what he says regarding his amp too

Valid point, but you can do this with most amps anyway
