Sony Ericsson shows new Xperia™ Pureness at London brand event
September 3rd 2009 - Today at a business update meeting, Sony Ericsson showed the new Xperia™ Pureness, a simple design phone which brings together beautiful craftsmanship and the concept of “talk, text, time - a holiday from technology”. The Xperia™ Pureness will be officially launched in November 2009 through selected retail distribution channels in key cities around the world.
The handset was shown to media attending an event to launch Sony Ericsson’s new brand direction where the company also confirmed its alignment under the Sony make.believe brand message.
Xperia™ Pureness approaches the mobile phone as a work of art rather than technology. The company’s designers aimed to sculpt an object of design that reflected the purity of water and a sense of calmness when not in use.
More details on Xperia™ Pureness will be available when the phone launches in November 2009.
Note how the woman's hands are visible through the screen!
My first thought was that this styling was hideous, but I am impressed by yet another new design innovation from SE.

Wow, this looks great. I won't be buying one, but I am in awe of that screen. Love the white on nothing style!

It's an interesting design and I'm sure it will have an audience, don't think it's for me though. Although the screen is unique and stylish, it's also a bit limiting - presumably looking at photos (or taking them) isn't an option on this phone, and multimedia in general is probably right out. Still, shows some much needed individuality from SE, so good work.

Can't help thinking about the first time I seen the T610.
Interesting, unique and unusual, as will be the price no doubt, but hey that's the price of fashion.

Interesting design, but very ugly. Looks like one very old remote control. |

I think this phone is critic-proof. It's too unique in its own right to criticize. Well done! Now let's see if it will sell (which I think it will really). I'm just wondering why it will be marketed under the Xperia line

If there´s one phone by Sony/// that deserves the brand "Xperia" it is this one!
If making an experience refers to something new, unexpected, something with an impact, than this belongs more to the Xperia brand than the other phones released |

This is innovation from SE! I love the design except I wish the screen was 1:1 with the keypad.
I'm guessing the natural progression of this line of Xperia would be a colour screen, sounds difficult considering the transparent nature of the screen.
Hmmm... this could be something of a trend in future phones not necessarily phones from SE only.
Anyone remember the Black diamond concept that was eventually made by some other company? This one does look much more interesting than the Black Diamond I think.

Very true, Xperia was originally meant to be all about the "xperiance", but ended up spending the last year as an unlikely badge for a so-so Windows phone - putting it on something like this actually makes a lot more sense.
Still not sure why, if the X2 gets to be an Xperia handset as well by virtue of simply being a smartphone and the forthcoming Android phone is also carrying this branding, the Satio isn't an Xperia as well? Who draws these invisble lines between all of SE's brands?

@Dups!
+1 on screen/keypad height ratio closer to 1:1. It would look milion times better. |

Few problems
#1. Screen is too small
#2. XPERIA is supposed to be like a smartphone lineup? Or am I not understanding how Sony Ericsson is doing things?
#3. Ugly keypad. But it's a concept so I'll live with it for now.
#4. Screen legibility.
