i have deleted some photos on my Aino 8Gb memory card, and as i don't have a card reader, i wanted to use a recovery program to recover them, as i did it once with my K800i. But when i get to the bit where i have to select the drive i want to scan, my phone doesn't show up. it is in 'My Computer', under "other", as U10i. is there any way i can select it?

Some recovery programs are better at detecting when devices are connected to a PC than others. Some can work it out when the drive letter of a disk has been corrupted for example and still pick it up..

There's some more general advice here which might also be useful...

First - You need to be careful and try not to use the phone in anyway that might save any new data to the phones memory or memory card. Then you need to look at some file recovery software as shown below (sounds like you've tried this initially - worth persisting though).

Normally, when you delete files from a memory card the data itself isn’t deleted, just the information that says where the rest of the data for those files is located. The area where the deleted file data was stored is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important that new pictures or files aren’t saved to the memory card in the meantime.

One of the easiest ways to see if your deleted files can be recovered is to download some file recovery software.

You'll then need to connect your phone to the PC using the USB cable that probably came with it, or if not, take the memory card from the phone and put it in a card reader connected to the PC - a card reader costs about $20 or less, or borrow one, or find a PC with an inbuilt one (many do).

Then try the free trial version of a good commercial product that will scan the phone's memory card for deleted files and show you exactly what can be recovered.

At least that will show you if you can recover the deleted files or if it’s too late already.

You can find more useful information on how to recover deleted files here.

One such Photo Recovery Software using which I have my own experience in recovering lost/deleted photos is Remo Recover Photo, a powerful application to recover lost, deleted, and formatted data from any digital storage media. Software is having a highly interactive user interface that is so easy to use and does not require any technical knowledge to recover deleted photos from any storage media. To analyze the functionalities of the software and to preview the lost files, you can download its demo version for FREE.

For Memory Stick and micro SD the best is MCFileRescue.exe

There are many software available in market for data recovery.
First of all remove your memory card from your Aino and put it in a safe place and don't overwrite your deleted photos, Don't use your memory card until you can't get your photos.
For recovering your data first Connect the memory card so that it can be accessed like a removable hard drive and then try one of the recovery software, I can't recommend you any one because I had not used any one up to now.

Id suggest you try http://www.piriform.com/recuva its really good. ensure you don't write anything new to the card else that will reduce the chances of recovery
