Probably be the easiest root method has been released,it maybe old news but i just recently.
Simply download and install Universal Root (153kb): http://is.gd/e9VNU
Open it,hit the Root button, wait until it says your phone is rooted and then after that reboot your phone, voila, its rooted.
Heres where i found it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747587
I can confirm its working on my X10 enjoy!

Benefit- More flexibility to customize your device and install some apps that are not compatible with unrooted androids. Downside- More open to security threats

I got the program from another site when I couldn't get corner23 to work however a note to X10 mini users:

I could not get Universal Androot V1.5 to succesfully root my X10 mini even though after clicking root it told me my device was succesfully rooted. I tried this 3 times however if worked when I downloaded Universal Androot V1.4!

more open to security threads... well yes I guess a little bit - but all root requests go through Superuser.apk so you still have plenty of control over what can and what cant acess root.

If we unroot to install the 2.1 update coming sometime in Q3 this year do you think we will still be able to root our phones this way again after updating? or can we update without unrooting?

I tried this on my ATT X10. Phone says it can not install non Android Market programs. I see the instructions to go Settings, Applications, and accept unknown programs but this option does not come up on my phone. Any other options to get non Android Market programs on my X10. Plus I would like to uninstall some of the crap that came on it. Uninstall programs have not worked.
