Leonard Nimoy, who starred as the logical science officer Spock on Star Trek, passed away on Friday at his home in Bel Air. He was 83.
Nimoy's wife, Susan Bay, confirmed her husband's death, which came after news that the beloved actor had been hospitalized earlier in the week for complications resulting from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Nimoy revealed he was suffered from the disease in a tweet in January 2014, writing, “I quit smoking 30 years ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now!!”
