Does anyone know if you can install software that has not been approved by Orange? I know the SPV only allows Orange certified software to be installed.

Also, does the Opera browser support landscape mode? Their product pdf info sheet suggests it does.

I tried Orange Direct this morning and it seems they are still having problems with the ordering system, so they cant take orders. Will try again later.

I know its a P800 forum. I was asking if 3rd party software can be installed on a P800.

The SPV prevented this. Thats also why Sendo pulled out because Orange wanted too much control.

Whats the point of a flashy PDA phone if you cant install the software you like, or have developed yourself.

There is definately no problem installing any software developped for symbian on the p800.

Just look at the cpu speed tester at

http://my-symbian.com/forum/download.php?id=370

Proof that this isn't a problem.

Software signing is an option on the Symbian platform. The OS will tell you that software isn't signed when it is installed. But that's it.

Also get your facts right. Sendo didn't drop the Z100 becourse of Orange. They felt mistreated by M$ and are now running a lawsuit against them (M$ countersued on some issues that sounds really silly but that's nothing new). Basically Sendo claims M$ didn't do their part of the deal and was trying to ruin Sendo on purpose so M$ would get all the intullectual property rights. M$ on the other hand claims Sendo was trying to make a bad product on purpose.
