Help! Loud Noise Driving me crazy |

Hey all, I hope someone can help me with this. Everytime I make or receive a call on my P800, I get a loud beep about 5 seconds into the call. When I look at my phone display, there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point above the name/number of the person I called. It does this everytime, and my wife's P800 does it as well. Is there something I am doing wrong? I have e-mailed SE about this, but the guy who was "helping" me was useless. Has anyone heard of this, and how to fix it? The phones are using R1F. I'd like to get an upgrade, but I live in Bermuda and no-one here can do it. I called SE regarding getting this done in the US, and they said that the only service center they have to do it in the whole US is in Minnesota. This is a great phone, but SE needs to get it together regarding Customer service. Anyways, anybody who can help me, I'd really appreciate it...

If the yellow triangle also shows a "10" (ten), then it's possible it is a system failure. Press and hold the On/Off button for at least ten seconds to turn P800 off, then restart as normal. (see page 168 of user guide) |

I am not sure about what it is exactly but I once was abroad (Jordan) and i got this a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it at the top of the screen with a double msn messenger like sound, i asked about it and was told that it happenes sometimes were the network is crap or ancient and there isn't secure, so they or the people around can break into the phone call an listen to what you are saying
I was told this by a person who had a T68i as well, and yaa in nokias is a open lock that appears at the top of the screen

Hmm...Interesting. Still, my wife was in Las Vegas last week, and she said her phone did the same thing. It can't be bad there and here (well OK, it might be). The tone I get is a single loud beep. After that there is no more noise, but the yellow triangle with the ! in it remains for the duration of the call. I don't care about the yellow triangle, I really just wish I could get rid of the loud beep. |

Another reason I could think of is that you and your wife have some kind of software installed which is conflicting with phone operations. You could try and close running applications using file manager or handy day ans see if you get same error. And if that doesn't work I think you might have to do a master reset. |

This is a network feature... Your network doesn't support ciphering. To remove the sound you need to send your phone to a service center.

The yellow triangle during a call means that your provider doesn't support ciphering (or call encryption) ... that's it..it's just a warning.
The yellow triangle with the "10 sec" thing means you have to hold the power button down for 20 seconds (a programmer in SE can't count well) to reset the phone. |

no nid to hold it 4 20 sec,,, just 10..... thats why the no. 10 with the flashing triangle is displayed ryt?..... it usually happens when u install applications which interferes with the phones's softwre... I had the same problem b4, but after I uninstalled Handy Day, No more crashes.... |

Hey all,
Thanks for all responses. I am going to have a look at the security settings, and phone my provider tomorrow to see whats up. I know they have advertised that their network is encrypted, so this shouldn't be happening on my phone (unless encryption and ciphering is two different things, I'm not as brainy as I used to be ). |

@Pois0n_Dart
in some networks ciphering (encryption) is automatically switched off in certain areas of the network (for example if the reception is bad)... and switched back on when entering an area with better reception... this feature is not used much anymore, all networks in Europe runs with ciphering on at all times... but in for example US and India the ciphering is switched between on/off depending on where you are... |

Hey All,
Thanks again for all the responses. I talked to my wireless carrier a few minutes ago, and they confirmed that the encryption (cipher) was down. They said they were doing a major upgrade and that it would be up in a week, which should clear up the problem. Surprisingly enough, the support techs at SE (USA) didn't have the faintest idea of what I was talking about. The people in this forum seem to be much better informed and willing to help than the manufacturer of the product. Much appreciated... |
