Just in time for everyone to be all set to move on to something better and faster (like Ultra Wideband), the shadowy cabal known as the Bluetooth Special Interest Group says that a new Bluetooth spec called Enhanced Data Rate that’s three times as fast as the regular Bluetooth we have now (i.e. 2.1 Mbps vs. 721 kbps) should be ready later this year. Should be backwards compatible with older versions of Bluetooth, and the first gadgets with the spec (like hopefully a pair of decent Bluetooth stereo headphones) should be out next year.

That sounds just great if you want to transfer big files. Hope this will come in phones soon.

Well, I've been using 'bluetooth' for about a month now. My Dad bought us one when he bought a Nokia 6230, it's also good when transferring datas/images to my Nokia 7650, though my internal memory is only limited to 4 MB, while my Dad's is 256 MB, he is still looking for the 512 MB or even higher MMC spec. model card. He's fond of transferring his thousands (downloaded) MP3 titles and videos as well to his new fone. I am quite not sure what model he bought for our Desktop, but sure hell is faster transferring compared to an IR or even a Data Cable.
Here's how it looks like:

100 feet...just think of the bluejacking opportunities.
it would really maike bluejacking in a car viable, as unless your in a major jam at the moment, then it's just not practical. |

It's been a long time coming but finally there's a light at the end of the tunnel. It still won't compete with WiFi but at least things are gonna speed up. What I want to know is, whether the 2.1 Mbps is enough for a decent quality stereo signal?
What do you think, dual Bluespoon Digital earpieces!? Oh the possibities are endless. I can't wait!
