Turboy here, (http://www.turboy.xs3.com)
I work in a mobile phone store in Melbourne, Australia and we just got our stock taken away and upgraded with the new R2E011 version.
This firmware is not yet officially released, but the SE Service centre already has it. It's still HUSH-HUSH. The general public can't get it done just yet.
We got our stock upgraded early because I kicked up such a fuss about all the bugs.
I've used the new R2E011 for a couple of days now and have NOT seen 1 bug that I found on my previous R2A041 (Which had far too many bugs to handle. View my previous post which listed most of them here : http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=64969 )
The battery meter is even fixed up!
But unfortunately the battery still doesn't last very long. I didn't notice a difference in battery length to the previous FW.
Now the phone is absolutely beautiful! Works as it should and nothing to annoy you.
There's nothing at all different in the Operating system. I was hoping to see some new and different things (Like MP3 SMS), but no luck. It is exactly the same but without the Software glitches. Same menu speed too.
Here is a screenshot I just took of my phone below, and if anyone has any questions regarding the new Firmware R2E011, just post here and I'll check 'em out on my phone and get back to ya. Or you could email me at : turboymp3@hotmail.com
Cheers,
Turboy.

I've had this firmware version a while ago, maybe a week or so.. for me, it did introduce new bugs rather than fix the exsisting ones.. now.. when I start the phone sometimes I cannot access the phone book.. I have to turn the phone off and on a couple of times and then I would be able to access the phone book.. didn't notice any improvments at all.. the battery life is still the same.. the service center here stopped upgrading phones to this version.. they say SE told them to wait untill a newer version is avaiable.. |

my phone has a couple bugs:
Panarama doesnt work
sometimes my phone just resets itself to a white screen, flashes, and then re-loads the desktop/phone.
Any help?
How do i get to that software screen?
whats the command? |

What about the phone light "During Calls - Submenus - Charging when the phone power is OFF"? It stays "ON"
Also the phone always prompts me to enter the phone lock when switching it "ON" with the same SIM and the phone lock mode is "Automatic".

Have they put a snooze feature on the recurrent alarm?Seems strange that this was left off.

- ProficienT : It seems you may have the old Firmware (R2A041). Check by pressing >*<<*<* (Joystick Right, Star, Left, Left, Star, Left, Star) and Go into Service Info then Software info.
I also checked the ALARM. There is definately a Snooze but I'm not sure if my old R2A041 phone had it coz I don't ever use it.
Also, seeing as I have used almost every model phone available, people have been writing to me asking my favourite phones at the moment, so here's my top 5 :
1. SE K700i - (Doesn't matter which Firmware, it's still #1)
2. Nokia 7610
3. Nokia 6230
4. Motorola V600 (Most Motos are useless except this one)
5. SE T630
My first phone was a Ericsson GF768 (Was worth $1400 in 1997), then a T18, Nokia 3210, Nokia 8250, Siemens SL45 (Not a bad phone for it's time), T68, T68i, T610, T630, K700i - And every other phone in between each.
Even though I have put Nokia at #2 & 3, I don't like Nokias at all. Too slow and very restrictive. SE's give you the freedom. Motorolas are still too hard to use - Takes 3 times as long to do anything on a Moto.
Anyway, keep any more questions coming on the new firmware for the K700i and I'll check it out, but like I said, there are no real changes, just fixed up all the bugs.

Though I have T68i I tested one day the K700i. During 5-6 hours the K700i had this problem twice. I just quess maybe this bug will vanish in next softwares. |

hey turbo,
I'm receiving my k700i tomorrow (monday) by post (bought it via ebay) and like to update the f/w before I start adding all my contacts etc.
Can you tell me where in Melbourne I can go to get the update? Can I come and see you? Is there a SE service-point in MEL at all?
thanks for your threads. really helpful!

@All
I just got back from my SE Service Center, as well as my friend who happens to be the manager there and he said to run, do not walk away from this R2E011 update. It is more a problem than a fix. He stated that SE has told them not to update anymore and that the fix to the battery and BT is on the way very soon. Within 6 to 7 days. The next update will fix all the bugs(hopefully) that are found in the previous updates.
By the way, has anyone noticed that the BT does not release the headset, but continues to keep the communication between the BT headset and the phone locked together? This kills my battery. I am only getting a bit over half a day if I use my HBH-65. Does anyone else know this problem are willing to address it to SE?
Cheers,

@sapporobaby:
I have the same locked-to-eachother and battery-life experience as you have, using the HBH-60 headset.
I have reported this to SE support, but I get the impression that the communication between support and development at SE is a one-way street. Three days after people reported the R2E-release for K700 here on Esato, the support department at SE strongly denied that there was a new release coming, "because we have not heard that R&D are planning it"...
