Hola Ticos!

I wanted to start a post for Costa Rica in English o Espanol.
To pass on knowledge important to Costa Rica like setup for ICE.
Any RACSA issues etc.

I tested my connection today and it was 12,64kbps

Me gustaria saber si hay GSM Prepago en Costa rica Que voy a estar en San Jose y mi compania aqui en EE.UU (T-Mobile) no tiene Roaming agreements con EL ICE Cellular, y qisiera comprar un Kit Prepago para usar mientras Me quedo aya.

No hay GSM Prepago.
Sorry my Spanish is not very good.
You can rent a cel phone if you are only visiting.
ICE ran out of GSM lines again and will only have new lines later in the year. You can get a TDMA line, and you could pick up a cheap unlocked phone on eBay. There are no free phones in CR when you sign up

You dont know when will ICE have GSM lines Available and what will the cost be for the GSM Chip (kit)? Also is the ICE Coverage Good? It would be great If there was more then one Cellular company in CR.

I think they might have said September for the next round of lines.
ICE coverage should be country wide although in remote area you need to check whether the new coverage is better than the old TDMA.

The problem is there are thousands of people with lines that never use them but are holding them until they get a phone. You can check online for the basic cost of the lines.

you know IF any Prepaid Cell Company in Nicaragua will allow Roaming in Costa rica?
