First Intel powered smartphone available next week in India
18 April 2012 by Olav Hellesø-Knutsen Lava will later this week launch the Xolo X900 smartphone with a Intel Atom processor. The phone will initially be available to the fast-growing India market
The Xolo X900 Lava smartphone is the first commercially available model running on a Intel Z2460 Atom processor and the Intel XXM 6260 platform. Intel CEO Paul Otellini recently told investors that the worlds-first smartphone powered by an Intel Atom processor will be released later this week. Lenovo and Motorola have been rumoured to ship the first Intel powered smartphone, but now it seems like Lava will beat them both. Lava Xolo X900 will have a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 400 MHz graphics clock with dual channel memory and 1 GB RAM. The display is 4-inch large and an unusual 600 x 1024 pixels resolution which is close to (576 x 1024) commonly used 16:9 aspect ratio. Xolo X900 has a 8 megapixels main camera and a 1.3 megapixels front camera for video calls. Video recording resolution is of course 1080p. Internal storage is 16 GB. Xolo X900 has Android 2.3 Gingerbread when it enters the market but it is upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
